Experience G&Ds KVM solutions in Tokyo
For the second time, G&D's products will be travelling to the Far East to be presented at InterBEE 2017 (15-17 November 2017), Japans largest and most important meeting place for broadcast & entertainment professionals. The products themselves have been enjoying great popularity in Japan for some years now. For more than 50 years, InterBEE has been combining innovations in the fields of broadcasting, video, audio, lighting and media. In order to present the technological innovations for the broadcasting sector and to better meet the needs of media professionals in Japan, Guntermann & Drunck will again visit Tokyo with numerous powerful highlights. At the G&D stand, visitors will experience the broadest KVM portfolio on the market and many innovative features for broadcast applications.
Pixel-perfect and latency-free
One such first-class solution is the KVM extender DP1.2-VisionXG. As a KVM extender of superlatives, the system allows the uncompressed and latency-free transmission of extremely high video resolutions such as 4K and 8K at 60Hz. The transmission of high-resolution DisplayPort video is completely lossless and latency-free over distances up to 10,000m. The device is available in variants with up to four video channels. Thanks to the source synchronicity of the video channels, even highest video resolutions can be extended over long distances using optical fibres.
The system includes many user-friendly and mission-critical features such as the screen-freeze function, the monitoring function, a redundant power supply, SNMP and two network ports.
DP1.2-VisionXG for perfect video transmission
For many broadcasters, image quality is a decisive factor when choosing KVM equipment. Closely related to this is the question of the transmission type. There is no universal answer when it comes to compressed or uncompressed signal transmission since the decision for or against one of these systems always depends on many individual factors of the broadcast project you want to implement. Compressing systems such as the KVM extender DP1.2-Vision guarantee very high video quality and can even extend 4K video signals over classic CAT cabling. By compressing video signals, the system requires less bandwidth and therefore also less expensive components, which in turn offers significant cost advantages over uncompressing high-end extenders. This means that project requirements can be taken into account individually with regard to the budget.
At InterBEE 2017, G&D will also introduce the compressing extender system DP1.2-Vision to Japan. DP1.2-Vision uses the in-house HDIP compression technology in the latest development stage, Level 3. This compression mode allows the loss-less transmission of video signals with a resolution of 4K at 60Hz. Thus, the systems require less bandwidth to transmit signals - but still provide clear and visually lossless images as well as a latency-free operation. The DP1.2-Vision supports the transmission of DisplayPort1.2 signals. Transmission takes place either via CAT cables over distances up to 140 m or via optical fibres up to 10,000 m.
Switching 4K signals through matrix installations
The process of switching signals becomes especially interesting if you want to extend high-resolution video signals such as 4K resolutions not only as a point-to-point connection, but if you also want to integrate them into a complex matrix installation and enable complex distribution and switching processes. Thus, several computers can be operated remotely via different, simultaneous workstations. The KVM extender DP1.2-Vision can be easily integrated into G&D matrix systems such as the ControlCenter-Compact or the ControlCenter-Digital, which allows the extension, switching and distribution of 4K at 60 Hz through the matrix.
DP1.2-Vision-Fiber-System
G&D pay particular attention to the compatibility and combinability of their portfolio. Following G&D's principle of mix & match, all products as well as their variants are compatible and can be combined with each other. Thus, IT installations can also be retrofitted and expanded to meet future requirements. Another advantage is the in-house HDIP compression technology in the latest development stage, Level 3. This compression mode allows the loss-free transmission of video signals with a resolution of 4K at 60Hz.
Brand-new broadcast feature for tally lights
In studios or OB vans G&D matrix systems allow multiple operators to simultaneously access the same or completely different computers. But what if this computer is live on the air and a producer makes unwanted changes to this particular system? The new GPIO function helps you transmit relevant tally light information to remote workplaces and highlights the active on-air system by using a connected ON AIR light. This way, you can avoid making any unwanted changes to a live computer. The new GPIO-Changer is a device that helps you install and handle the GPIO function. This means that tally switching status can be transmitted from the computer via the KVM matrix and the information can be made available to the user on the console. Now producers are always informed whenever a computer is live on the air.
The range of user-friendly functionalities such as CrossDisplay-Switching, the push get-function, the broadcast feature for tally lights and scenario switching make G&D systems intuitive, convenient and efficient to use. With their KVM devices, G&D are able to create smart solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into the world of broadcast Interested trade fair visitors will find these and other high-performance products for broadcast professionals at booth 7505 at InterBEE in Tokyo from November 15 to 17,
