With the 10th-annual SVG College Summit (May 30 - June 1, Omni Hotel at CNN Center, Atlanta) just three months away, SVG announces the event's preliminary agenda and also calls on the industry to recommend qualified speakers to fill out a strong roster of video-production brainpower set to participate at this year's event.
REMINDER: All qualified attendees who register prior to April 2 pay no registration fee!
Call for Speakers
SVG is always open to new faces, ideas, and perspectives on key trends and technologies driving innovation in college sports-video production. To submit a speaker for consideration (including yourself!) for the 2018 SVG College Summit, don't hesitate to email SVG College Director Brandon Costa at brandon@sportsvideo.org with the speaker's name, organization, title, and the specific session requested.
NOTE: This call for speakers applies solely to end users and does not include technology vendors at this time.
Preliminary Agenda Announced
Highlighted sessions from this year's SVG College Summit program:

Preparing for Launch: How ACC Schools Are Readying Their Facilities and Staffs for the ACC Network
For many months now, 15 schools in the Atlantic Coast Conference have been investing in equipment, infrastructure, and talent in anticipation of the debut of the ACC Network. Although the new-media venture will not launch across linear providers until 2019, video departments from across the conference offer an update of their current status, what's left to accomplish, and what lessons have been learned along the way.
10:50 - 11:30 a.m.
Mid-Major' Magic: How Smaller' Video Teams Pave a Road to Video Success
Schools of all shapes and sizes have seen their athletic departments become media companies. What technology and strategies are making it possible for those with the smallest budgets and staffs? Key producers, some of which are one-person bands within the athletic department, reveal how they make it all work.
11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
The Impact of IP: Why Athletic Departments Are Rethinking the Tech Connecting Their Campuses
Use of the public internet to internally connect the campus and, in some cases, to distribute content is permeating live college sports production. Athletic departments that are leveraging this tool discuss how confidence in public IP networks is altering how they view their campuses and what that means for the future of college athletics.
1:30 - 2:15 p.m.
Home Sweet Home: The Latest in the Tech and Strategy Behind the Centralized Control Room
Advances in technology and the need for creating live content from locations scattered around a college campus have made centralized control the preferred method. What's the latest in technology and philosophy behind this media center? College athletic department personnel, integrators, and vendors break it all down.
2:30 - 3:00 p.m.
Facility Case Study [TBA]
A college athletic department offers a detailed look at its recent control-room/media-center buildout.
3:45 - 4:30 p.m.
Defining Your Brand: Creative Directors on Taking Content to the Next Level
As digital and social media has matured, solidifying one's brand identity has become more critical for college athletic departments. Creative directors in the field share their strategies for working with marketing departments and using technology to execute a cohesive brand. They also share advice for organizations with smaller budgets and staffs on how they can enhance their own brand culture.
4:30 - 5:00 p.m.
Keynote Conversation [TBA]
A key executive from the sports-media industry shares career experiences and advice for the audience in this in-depth conversation.
5:15 6:30 p.m.
10th Annual SVG/NACDA COLLEGE SPORTS MEDIA AWARDS
Join us for the 10th edition of our annual celebration of the best in college-sports-video storytelling. Also, SVG is proud to award the 2018 SVG College Pioneer Award and the 2018 SVG/NACDA Technology Leadership Award.
Friday, June 1
9 - 11:30 a.m.
COLLEGE SPORTS MEDIA AWARDS FESTIVAL
For a decade, the SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards have wowed peers and raised the competitive bar across the industry of college sports-video-content creators. These awards honor storytelling at its absolute finest. In celebration of the ceremony's 10th anniversary, some of the most successful winners throughout the years share some of their best work, explain their creative and technological process, and field questions from the audience in this in-depth and intimate look at how some of the best sports stories have been told.
10:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
ENGINEERING WORKSHOP
As on-campus media infrastructures become more robust and the demand for content on a daily basis continues to balloon, it is increasingly critical to have a tech maven behind the scenes making sure everything remains in tip-top shape. Some athletic departments are blessed with a full-time engineer on staff. Many are not. This intimate workshop track is designed to give some surface-level skills for those looking to bone up on some engineering basics while providing the tools with the information needed to advocate for a full-time engineer on campus.
