COLOGNE/Germany, JENA/Germany, 12.03.2013.
At the International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, Germany, Carl Zeiss will introduce the first mid-price range surgical microscope equipped with a Varioskop zoom system. S100 / OPMI pico delivers optimally illuminated images of the entire mouth. Furthermore, Carl Zeiss will present the program of the ZEISS ACADEMY for Dentistry to dentists and dental specialists: in science-based training courses experienced users show how to best use a surgical microscope. Event visitors will have the opportunity to see for themselves in a recreated practice just how the S7 / OPMI PROergo with ceiling mount promotes an ergonomic seated posture.
Surgical microscope for crisper, optimally illuminated images of the entire oral cavity.
The new version of OPMI pico is the first in its class to feature a manual Varioskop. This lens enables dentists to sharply focus images over a range of 120 millimeters. With this system, we are giving our customers the benefits of a large surgical microscope in the mid-price range: large field of view and much better focus," states Dr. Ludwin Monz, President and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG.
The Varioskop offers two key benefits: the large field of view easily visualizes the entire mouth which enables dentists to gain a better overview and improved orientation in the oral cavity. The focusing mechanism allows you to capture the whole mouth in the vertical axis without moving OPMI pico. In restorative dentistry, this enables visualization of the entire oral cavity from the front teeth to the molars.

ZEISS ACADEMY for dentistry: new courses for dentists and dental specialists
At the IDS, the Medical Technology business group of Carl Zeiss will also present the 2013 international training program of the ZEISS ACADEMY for dentistry. The program trains users in special aspects of micro-dentistry. The highlight is the second International ZEISS Dental Symposium in London on 4-5 October 2013.
"We are not only offering just our products, but are also looking forward to in-depth discussions with dental specialists," says Dr. Ludwin Monz. "We would like to show them how they can best deploy surgical microscopes for their respective requirements. Therefore, the training courses and scientific program tailored to their daily needs are among the most important services we offer our customers."
The program of the ZEISS ACADEMY for Dentistry includes team training and hands-on courses, some of which also feature live surgeries. Experienced microscope users lead the courses in practices or universities to make them as realistic and practical as possible. Course participants receive accredited training points from the German Dentists Association (BZK). The courses are designed in line with the guidelines and recommendations of the German Dentists Association (BZK) for dental training

More ergonomics in the dental practice with OPMI PROergo on a ceiling mount
Practicality and reality are also important at the Carl Zeiss booth. Therefore, OPMI PROergo on a ceiling mount will be presented with a treatment unit. This will give visitors the opportunity to experience for themselves the benefits of a surgical microscope: working in a relaxed seated posture to avoid neck strain, back problems and diseases of the spine. Furthermore, the ceiling mount saves space and is thus ideal for small treatment rooms.
