Commonwealth Connections Short Animated Films

The Edinburgh Festivals are being supported by the Scottish Government through their Edinburgh Festivals EXPO fund, and by Creative Scotland, the national arts body to develop a number of activities to increase the awareness of the Commonwealth 2014. As part of this activity EIFF is delighted to be jointly curating a programme of animated short films showcasing the best emerging talent from around the Commonwealth. EIFF has reached out to a selection of Commonwealth nations developing new partnerships and new relationships with festivals, exhibitors, and filmmakers. Each Commonwealth partner has nominated an animation film from their country to be included within the programme.

EIFF will premiere this short film programme in June. The programme will then screen in the other partner nations during the following months increasing awareness for Commonwealth 2014 whilst also offering a platform for up-and-coming animation filmmakers from around the world.

Shorts: Commonwealth Connections

In celebration of Commonwealth 2014, EIFF has partnered with a selection of Commonwealth nations to provide a platform to showcase some of the best animated short films from around the world. Partners include festivals and film bodies from almost all continents: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia & Oceania, and Europe.

Each partner nation has nominated a film from their country to be included in the programme and will also hold a screening in their home country.
