Berklee has announced its spring 2022 Signature Series lineup, featuring performances from students, faculty, alumni, and special guests, all taking place at the Berklee Performance Center. The Signature Series includes a total of eight concerts through April celebrating some of the biggest names in music, from Taylor Swift and Elton John to Sarah Vaughan and Beyonc .

Berklee welcomes renowned artist Daym Arocena, who will perform her blend of traditional Santer an chant, jazz stylings, contemporary R&B influences, and Afro-Cuban music with a Berklee student ensemble. Recognized as Cubas finest young female singer (The Guardian), Arocena has become the voice for a new generation of Cuban artists. She was highlighted on NPRs 50 favorite albums of the year list, featured on 2015s Juno Award-winning album Jane Bunnett & Maqueque, and was introduced to the world stage through Gilles Petersons Havana Cultura Mix project. Celebrating the music of Cuba, the show will feature student performers as well as arrangements by student writers. The concert is produced by faculty bassist Oscar Stagnaro, with Matthew Nicholl, dean of the Professional Writing and Music Technology Division, serving as music director.

Berklee Legacy Award Concert: Celebrating Ellington, Vaughan, Douglass, and de Lavallade

Berklee's inaugural Legacy Awardees-Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughan, Joseph Douglass, and Carmen de Lavallade-will be honored in this tribute concert. Berklee faculty member and Grammy-nominated artist Tia Fuller will direct a big band to celebrate Duke Ellington, and George Russell Jr., chair of Berklees Harmony and Jazz Composition Department, leads an ensemble to recognize Sarah Vaughan's artistry. From Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Dr. Johnathan Bailey Holland, chair of composition, contemporary music, and core studies, pays homage to the turn-of-the-20th-century violinist Joseph Douglass, and Dr. Mila Thigpen, chair of the Dance Division, choreographs a tribute to the riveting Carmen de Lavallade.

Great American Songbook: Fearless-The Music of Taylor Swift

An international cast of students will celebrate the artistry and songwriting prowess of Taylor Swift. Produced by Maureen McMullan '09, this concert will feature a diverse array of Berklee's most outstanding vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers, arrangers, and track producers as they interpret some of Swift's most popular songs, including Shake It Off, You Belong with Me, Blank Space, I Knew You Were Trouble, and Cardigan, showcasing Swift's wide and varied stylistic range.
One of the most prolific American performer-songwriters of the 21st century, with over 200 million records sold worldwide, Swift's evolution from rising country artist to established pop icon has placed her among the most feted of American artists, with 11 Grammy Awards, 11 MTV Awards, and 12 Country Music Awards. Her album Fearless was named by NPR as among the all-time greatest albums made by women for its message of liberation and self-affirmation.

This tribute to Mick Goodrick will feature performances from the legendary guitarists former students Julian Lage '09 and Wolfgang Muthspiel '90, and faculty guitarists Tim Miller, Randy Roos, David Fiuczynski, Abby Aronson, and Norm Zocher. The show also will include video tributes by jazz vibraphonist Gary Burton '62 '89H and 20-time Grammy-winning guitarist/composer Pat Metheny '96H, Bill Frisell '77 '17H, John Scofield '73 '97H, Mike and Leni Stern, and Wayne Krantz.

The 13th Annual Berklee Global Jazz Institute Summit

This concert event celebrates the 13th anniversary of the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. Top alumni and student talent from the institute will perform original compositions with a host of acclaimed faculty and visiting artists, led by Danilo P rez, the institutes founder and artistic director.
The Grammy Award-winning pianist, composer, producer, and educator is also a social activist, humanitarian, and leading proponent of global jazz. P rez is among the most influential and dynamic musicians of our time. His music is a blend of Panamanian roots with elements of Latin American folk music, jazz, European impressionism, and African and other musical heritages that promote music as a multidimensional bridge between people.
