The 74th annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday 12 September. Dark-comedy series Succession, which was nominated for 25 awards, walked away with Outstanding Drama Series. Apple+'s Ted Lasso, which was nominated for 20 awards, won the Outstanding Comedy Series Award.

SUCCESSION WINS BIG AT 2022 EMMY AWARDS The three-hour 2022 Emmy Awards were hosted by Saturday Night Live actor Kenan Thompson, who kept the crowd entertained with his jokes. Succession took home the highest honour of the evening, the Outstanding Drama Series Award. The series beat out the likes of Stranger Things, Squid Game and Euphoria for the award. Succession also won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series.

Matthew Macfayden scooped the Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Award for his role as Tom. Macfayden's co-star, Kieran Culkin, was also nominated for the award.

ZENDAYA MAKES HISTORY After winning the Lead Actress in a Drama Series Award in 2020, Euphoria star Zendaya made history as the youngest recipient of a Primetime Emmy Award. This year, Zendaya has made history at 26 years old after walking away with the same award again. She is now the youngest two-time Emmy Award winner.

Accepting her award, Zendaya said she was honoured to be nominated alongside side Hollywood stars like Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Oh.
