SCC buys AV reseller as IT and visual communications...

IT services company Specialist Computer Centres (SCC) has set its sights on the visual communications and collaboration space with the acquisition of a significant stake in avsnet.

UK headquartered SCC supplies, integrates and manages IT projects throughout Europe and adds communication and collaboration solutions with the avsnet buy.

Avsnet will sit within the SCC group in a move that will merge SCC's long-standing AV business with avsnet's specialisations to form SCC AVS'.

The companies say that SCC AVS will use SCC's broad range of IT capabilities to provide customers with true end to end solutions .

Now with the accelerated convergence of IT and visual communications this acquisition significantly enhances our existing audio-visual capabilities, creating a market leading entity that addresses business requirements for the integration of VC and collaborative solutions with industry leading security, network and cloud services.

SCC AVS will provide a range of services from audio visual design through supply, installation, commissioning and programming as well as video conferencing and collaborative solutions including cloud based and as-a-service models.

Fry will continue as managing director for the new SCC AVS business whilst retaining an equity stake in the business.

With the acquisition complete, SCC AVS now plans to develop services further, leveraging the group's scale, contacts and IT expertise to power continued progression.
