Hollywood acting coach?s JHB workshop

Hollywood celebrity acting coach, Michelle Danner, will present a workshop called The Golden Box on 15 September at the Bryanston Sports Club in Johannesburg, from 3pm until 7pm.

Danner herself trained with Stella Adler and Uta Hagen and uses techniques that include Meisner, Strasberg, Chekhov and Stanislavsky. She teaches classes at The Michelle Danner Acting Studio and the Edgemar Theatre School, as well as internationally.

This will be Danner's first time in South Africa. She works primarily with many A-List actors, privately and on set, and has acted in and directed over 30 plays in Los Angeles and New York. In 2013 Danner directed the feature film, Hello Herman, starring Norman Reedus.

By attending The Golden Box teenagers and adults will have the opportunity to expand their craft and learn how to create vivid, fleshed out, and interesting characters through an intense, condensed version of internationally sought after teaching method.

More often than not as actors we tend to think that its all about character and finding the character. The question is: How do we find character?' You are one vessel and with you comes a whole lot of background and character which makes you who you are.

The Golden Box is designed to help you use your own personal experiences or tools, as Michelle would call them, to build character. If you think about it, how I play a character is different from to how any other actor would play the same character. This is all because I have my own unique background and experiences which have shaped who I am today, essentially my own special set of tools. The Golden Box will help guide you on how to use your own set of tools, which will ultimately set you apart from other actors. Once you have own Golden Box, you can always whip out any tool you want to deliver an outstanding performance every time. This has enabled me to function more effectively and to be able to compete, in the wonderfully exciting and highly competitive Hollywood that everyone only ever dreams about.
