Innovation Award f r herausragende Dissertationen

Die Schaeffler FAG Stiftung hat am 29. April 2014 den Innovation Award 2013 f r zwei herausragende Dissertationen verliehen. Nachdem die Stiftung bereits am 20. M rz 2014 acht Schulen aus Mainfranken auf einer eigenen Veranstaltung f r ihre besonderen Projekte auszeichnete, erhielten nun Dr.-Ing. Alexander Wei vom Fraunhofer-Institut f r Elektronische Nanosysteme ENAS, Chemnitz und Dr.-Ing. Oliver Suttmann vom Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. eine Pr mierung von jeweils 10.000 Euro f r ihre Dissertationen in den Kategorien Product Innovation und Advanced Manufacturing . In der Kategorie Product Innovation wurde die Dissertation Entwicklung optischer Sensoren zur Qualit tssicherung und Zustands berwachung von Schmierfetten in W lzlagern von Alexander Wei pr miert, in der Kategorie Advanced Manufacturing die Dissertation Laserverfahren zur Strukturierung von metallischen D nnschicht-Dehnungssensoren von Oliver Suttmann.

Robert Schullan, Mitglied im Vorstand der Schaeffler AG und Vorsitzender der Gesch ftsleitung Schaeffler Industrie, Klaus Widmaier, Vorsitzender des Stiftungsvorstands und Gesch ftsleitung Personal Schaeffler Industrie, und Dirk Spindler, Leiter Forschung & Entwicklung Schaeffler Industrie und Mitglied der Gesch ftsleitung Schaeffler Industrie, bergaben die Auszeichnungen im Rahmen einer Feierstunde in Schweinfurt an die Preistr ger.

Seit ihrer Gr ndung 1983 f rdert die Schaeffler FAG Stiftung Wissenschaft, Forschung und Lehre auf naturwissenschaftlich-technischem Gebiet und unterst tzt daneben auch schulische Leistungen. Weltweit ber 1.000 Kontakte zu renommierten Universit ten und Instituten sichern die enge Vernetzung der Stiftung mit der Wissenschaft. Die diesj hrige Beteiligung hochkar tiger Bewerbungen belegt erneut, dass der Innovation Award zu den bedeutenden Technik-Stiftungspreisen in Deutschland geh rt , so Klaus Widmaier in seiner Moderation.

Als Festredner referierte Robert Schullan ber frischen Forschergeist, die Begeisterung f r Technik und die damit verbundene Innovationsbereitschaft. Sein Dank galt allen Bewerbern, die sich mit ihren Arbeiten und Projekten am Wettbewerb beteiligt hatten: Sie sind es, die mit Ihrem Engagement den Innovationsstandort Deutschland st rken und voranbringen. Ihre Begeisterungs- und Leistungsf higkeit ist ein entscheidender Faktor f r unsere Wettbewerbsf higkeit und damit unseren Wohlstand , so Schullan. Die hohe Innovationskraft von Schaeffler zeige sich unter anderem an der im Vergleich zum Vorjahr erneut gestiegenen Anzahl der Patentanmeldungen: In der offiziellen Patentstatistik des Deutschen Patent- und Markenamts belegte Schaeffler mit 2.100 Patentanmeldungen im Jahr 2013 in der Liste der innovativsten Unternehmen Deutschlands erstmals Platz 2 , so Schullan weiter.

Segment Product Innovation

Preisgeld: 10.000 Euro

Im Segment Product Innovation wurde die Dissertation Entwicklung optischer Sensoren zur Qualit tssicherung und Zustands berwachung von Schmierfetten in W lzlagern von Dr.-Ing. Alexander Wei pr miert, die am Fraunhofer-Institut f r Elektronische Nanosysteme ENAS, Chemnitz, Prof. Dr. Thomas Ge ner, entstand.

Die Dissertation befasst sich mit der Entwicklung eines optischen Sensors zur in situ Erfassung des aktuellen Schmiermittelzustands im W lzlager, welcher eine zustandsabh ngige Gestaltung der Wartungsintervalle erlaubt. Somit wird vor allem im Bereich kritischer und wirtschaftlich hochwertiger Anwendungen eine effiziente Instandhaltung erm glicht, um Lager- und somit Produktionsausf llen vorzubeugen.

Zu Beginn der Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeiten wurde eine tiefgehende Analyse der Ursachen f r Schmierstoffalterung ber chemisch-physikalische Betrachtungen durchgef hrt. Im Anschluss wird die Entwicklung eines neuen optischen Online-Messverfahrens vorangetrieben. Ziel der Arbeit war die Entwicklung eines Smart Systems mit optischem Sensorkopf, Hardware, Software und Energyharvester .

Segment Advanced Manufacturing

Preisgeld: 10.000 Euro

Der Preis im Segment Advanced Manufacturing ging an Dr.-Ing. Oliver Suttmann f r die Dissertation Laserverfahren zur Strukturierung von metallischen D nnschicht-Dehnungssensoren die am Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V., Prof. Dr. Ludger Overmeyer, entstand.

Die Nutzung von Sensoren zur direkten Erfassung von Beanspruchungsgr en an mechanischen Bauteilen erlangt zunehmend an Bedeutung. Ziel der Arbeit war die Entwicklung eines Strukturierungsprozesses, der die Integration von langlebigen und robusten metallischen D nnschichtdehnungssensoren in Bauteile mit gekr mmten Oberfl chen erlaubt. Auf diese Weise ist es m glich, neue Funktionalit ten, wie beispielsweise die berwachung anliegender Belastungen, in W lzlager zu integrieren. Eine Anforderung an das Fertigungsverfahren ist neben der Automatisierbarkeit Flexibilit t, um auch eine Bearbeitung kleiner St ckzahlen f r individualisierte Produkte bzw. Sonderl sungen zu gew hrleisten.

Dar ber hinaus wurden im Rahmen der Schulischen F rderung bereits acht Projekte ausgezeichnet, die das Verst ndnis und die Begeisterung f r Naturwissenschaft und Technik bei Sch lerinnen und Sch lern f rdern. Zwei erste Preise gingen dabei an das Gymnasium Ernestinum, Coburg f r das Projekt Himmelsst rmer sowie an das Regiomontanus-Gymnasium, Ha furt f r das Projekt Bau einer Minibiogasanlage . Einen zweiten Preis erhielt das Olympia-Morata-Gymnasium, Schweinfurt f r das Projekt Arbeiten im und am Mathematik-Labor der Universit t W rzburg . Mit zwei dritten Preise wurden das Armin-Knab-Gymnasium, Kitzingen f r das Projekt Chemisches Domino und das Gymnasium Bad K nigshofen f r das Projekt Mars Mission ausgezeichnet. Daneben wurden drei
