Eyeheight reports sustained demand for software-based legalisation 21 September 2015
London, England, September 21, 2015: Eyeheight reports sustained high demand for its range of software-based legalisation plug-ins as the broadcast industry moves increasingly to file-based content distribution and playout.
"We have experienced a record number of orders for demo downloads of our BroadcastSafe range of compliance plug-ins throughout Q1 and Q2 2015, climbing even higher in the run-up to September s International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam," says Eyeheight sales director Martin Moore.
"A very high percentage have converted into actual sales as users discover the seamless integration of BroadcastSafe with industry-leading video editing applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut and Avid Media Composer.
"Demand for software-as-a-service licensing is also increasing, allowing customers to pass on the cost of compliance as an operating expense rather than using traditional capex funding.
"The opex model is very accountant-friendly where the compliance resource is required for a specific project. We are confident that many customers initially using Eyeheight software on an opex basis will convert to the capex model as their business scales up."
Eyeheight s new BroadcastSafeAudio loudness control plug-in attracted strong interest at IBC. It is compatible with the Steinberg Virtual Studio Technology interface used for many high-end professional audio workstations. BroadcastSafeAudio is designed for professionals involved in any aspect of audio production or post production where the end product is to be transmitted over a television channel. It provides the audio compliance features developed for the highly successful Eyeheight KARMAudioAU loudness control plug-in which is designed for use with Apple Final Cut 7.
BroadcastSafe is a complete plug-in legaliser, safe-area generator and graphic measurement toolset. It enables users to verify and conform their content prior to submission to any file-based quality control system, all from within their familiar editing interface.
BroadcastSafe can perform composite, RGB, RGB-plus-Y and simultaneous composite-plus-RGB legalising, all with user-adjustable soft clipping at high and low thresholds. Precise chroma-space conversion and accurate limiting ensure compliance while keeping the full gamut available for creative use.
Users can select from an extensive range of presets, or work in custom mode which gives full access to 15 configurable parameters. Facility administrators can assign which built-in presets are available to users, create new presets or disable the custom option to ensure that only approved configurations are implemented.
The integral BroadcastEvaluate display indicates which parts of a video image require adjustment in order to be fully broadcast compliant. Non-compliant areas of content are displayed in a user-definable colour with the option of manual or automatic correction, giving editors greater choice in the way they work. BroadcastEvaluate supports all common compliance standards. Users can alternatively define their own compliance standard as an XML file.
Also integral to BroadcastSafe is BroadcastSafeArea. This allows a wide range of graticules to be superimposed over the video monitor display. BroadcastSafeArea supports a multitude of standards including SMPTE, EBU and DPP, in 525/625 standard definition, 720/1080 high definition and 2K line formats. Also included is a centre marker plus a measurement utility to ensure minimum text height conformance in commercials. Any marker colour can be assigned by the operator.
Eyeheight (www.eyeheight.com) produces broadcast-standard technical compliance plug-ins for use with popular video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro. Eyeheight also designs and manufactures rack-mountable 3G, 3D and HD-SDI processors for video and audio content origination, quality-assurance, post-production, playout and associated areas. This includes audio descriptors, audio loudness conformers, colour correctors, emergency switchers, mixers and keyers, safe area generators, subtitling decoders, text and graphics generators, timecode equipment, video legalisers and widescreen signal generators. Eyeheight products are available worldwide.
