05 Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Forum Held in Hong Kong

On October 12, Ningbo Municipal Government and Hong Kong Trade Development Council held a press conference at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center to introduce the exchanges and cooperation between Ningbo and Hong Kong and the 2015 Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Forum to news media from home and abroad. , The 2015 Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Forum officially opened in Hong Kong on October 13.

Ningbo and Hong Kong take turns to hold the forum since 2002 when the forum was Established. The previous successful forums have greatly promoted the cooperation between the two cities in economy, trade, culture, education, health, science and other areas. The forum has become the most important platform for the two parties to carry out all-round exchanges and cooperation.

According to the statistics, 219 projects have been signed in the past forums and the investment volume has reached 11.969 billion dollars. In 2014, the total volume of bilateral trade reached 2.56 billion dollars, of which Ningbo exported 2.45 billion dollars to Hong Kong and imported 110 million dollars from Hong Kong. Till the end of August 2015, more than 6,000 Hong Kong-funded projects have made home in Ningbo, with total investment of 20.9 billion dollars. Ningbo has 467 enterprises in Hong Kong with a total investment of 4.42 billion dollars. Nine Ningbo enterprises were successfully listed in Hong Kong. The educational institutions of the two cities have signed more than 60 cooperation projects and have established 42 sister schools. Ningbo and Hong Kong also have deep cooperation in health, culture, tourism, city management and other areas. Hong Kong has become the most important trade and investment partner of Ningbo.

The 2015 Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Forum is co-hosted by Ningbo Municipal Government and Hong Kong Trade Development Council with the theme of New Marine Time . The forum includes an opening ceremony and 12 special events. It is reported that on the signing ceremony of October 13, Ningbo and Hong Kong signed more than 10 cooperation projects with a total investment of over two billion dollars and the two parties agreed to utilize foreign investment of nearly one billion dollars. At the same time, a series of cooperation projects have be launched.

Leaders from Ningbo Municipal Government, responsible persons from Publicity Department of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Offices of Ningbo Municipality and directors from Hong Kong Trade Development Council attended the press conference and talked to the media. Over 40 news media from home and abroad attended the press conference.
