Mzansi Magic's latest telenovela My Brother's Keeper has been trending on social media since its premiere on Monday, 23 October. Let's meet the wives and husbands on the telenovela.

MEET THE WIVES: MZANSI MAGIC TELENOVELA Soapie fans are impressed with the wives on My Brother's Keeper played by actresses Hlengiwe Lushaba, Zola Nombona, Vuyiseka Cawe, Nelisa Mchunu and Rosemary Zimu.

TVSA reports that Lushaba's character MaMchunu (who is the senior wife) married her husband Mshengu (played by Lindani Nkosi) who used to be her late sister's husband.

Her sister was married to Mshengu and passed away, so MaMchunu married him through Ukungena (it's a traditional custom whereby a widowed man automatically enters a union with his sister-in-law), reports the publication.

Nombona plays Khwezi's (Mnqobi Kunene) widow Fakazile Shabalala, alongside Vuyiseka Cawe who portrays Wiseman Mncube's on-screen wife, Nomusa Shabalala.

Isifiso and Uzalo star Nelisa Mnchunu's character Lerato Shabalala is married to Sdumo Mtshali's character, Donga Tshabalala.

Savage Beauty and Scandal! star Rosemary Zimu portrays the role of Puseletso Tshabalala, who is married to Nkanyiso Mchunu's character, Ndumiso Tshabalala.

The show focuses on Ukungena and centres round Nqubeko Shabalala (played by Wiseman Mncube) who isn't in love with his situation.

Viewers predict that Ngubeko will end up marrying his late brother (Khwezi's wife) Fakazile Shabalala (played by Zola Nombona).

-- THE HUSBANDS: MY BROTHER'S KEEPER' DStv adds that actors Sdumo Mtshali, Sparky Xulu, Nkanyiso Mchunu, Wiseman Mncube and Lindani Nkosi have also secured roles in My Brother's Keeper.

Nkosi potrays the dominant father, Mshengu Shabalala described as a bully and queitly violent.

Mncube plays Mshengu's love child Nqubeko Shabalala. His mother had an affair with Nkosi's character and not much is known about her and he doesn't keep in touch with her.

Mtshali portrays the character of Donda Shabalala who is Mshengu's (Linda Nkosi) first born son with his late wife.

Mchunu plays Ndumiso Shabalala, who is the second born to Nkosi's character. Trouble follows him as he gives into temptation.

Xulu's character Thuthuka Shabalala is the only unmarried character in the telenovela; described as the charming, youngest brother who is a womaniser.

The Rhythm World produced show also tells the tale of a family drawn into a deadly succession battle of its own making.
