SCTE TO LAUNCH WIFI TECHNOLOGY WEBINAR SERIES JUNE 20; CISCO-SPONSORED PROGRAM TO DRIVE WIFI EXPERTISE

JUNE 17, 2013 (Exton, PA) The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) today announced a new series of technology webinars that is intended to prepare the cable technology workforce to meet growing demand for WiFi services throughout cable system operators' market footprints.

The WiFi Technology Webinar Series, sponsored by Cisco Systems, will debut this Thursday, June 20 from 2-3 p.m. Eastern time with a detailed look at basic principles of WiFi RF technology and engineering by Malcom Smith, technical marketing engineer for the Cisco Wireless Networking Group. Five additional future webinars will address:

Five Fundamentals of Integrating Licensed and Unlicensed Small Cells;

RF Planning and Deployment Challenges and Considerations;

Lessons Learned from Cable Deployments;

WiFi as a Managed Service; and

High Density Deployments: Stadiums and Arenas.

"WiFi offers cable a wealth of new opportunities to expand existing services and create new revenue streams," said Steve Harris, senior director, advanced network technologies for SCTE. "Thanks to the commitment of Cisco, we've designed a program that can provide the expertise that can help cable professionals support deployments of WiFi services that can drive industry growth."
