Custom Consoles Module-R technical furniture and MediaWall monitor display mounts have been chosen for integration into the production control room at the regional studios of one of Europes longest established television and radio broadcasters. The desks form part of a new installation supervised by Dega Broadcast Systems.
Custom Consoles Module-R and MediaWall have proved highly successful in many projects which we have completed over the years, says Tim Wheeler, Dega Broadcast Project Manager. Operators appreciate the modern styling, ergonomic excellence and strong build quality. From a systems integration perspective, Module-R and MediaWall allow us to preconfigure highly space-efficient solutions based on an established and proven range of desk and display-mount elements. Technical staff additionally appreciate the easy access they gain during initial installation and throughout the lifetime of the system. Module-R and MediaWall are also easy to reconfigure if necessary to match future changes in operating procedures.
The newly completed desk is an L-shaped structure designed for use by up to five operators, adds Custom Consoles Sales Manager Gary Fuller. The front section is a 13 bay inline unit facing a MediaWall of similar width. Operators have line-of-sight view of five 55 inch UHD HDR monitor displays positioned along the MediaWalls mid level support rails plus 24 inch displays and nearfield loudspeakers attached to the top rail. A 34 inch monitor and additional 24 inch displays are mounted on individually adjustable support arms connected along the rear of the desk. This is coupled to to a four bay wide left-hand desk via a corner section. The desk also includes two 13U floor-to-desktop cabinets plus seven 3U high sloping-front worktop racks.
A mix-and-matchable control room furniture system, Custom Consoles Module-R series enables aesthetically attractive and long-life broadcast control-room furniture to be configured to meet specific shapes and dimensions from a selection of high-quality pods, base sections, 19 inch rack housings, worktops, end-panel modules and legs. Coordinated desktop-level pods are available as single-bay sections with up 10U chassis capacity. The series includes high-quality single-bay, dual-bay and triple-bay desk sections with front or rear access, work surfaces in matching widths, corner desk sections with integral worktops, slide-out keyboard drawers, equipment pods with 3, 6 or 8U capacity, storage pedestals and equipment bays. Custom Consoles also offers a Module-R Lite variant for use in latest-generation IT-based studios or where space is at a premium. The front to back depth of Module-R Lite is 95 cm compared with the 120 cm depth of Module-R.
MediaWall is a video and audio monitor support frame system providing the same combination of structural rigidity and operational versatility as Module-R. Flat-screen video displays of practically any size can be mounted in almost any configuration. Incorporating height-adjustable horizontal beams and T-slot mounts, MediaWall is fully adjustable to ensure optimal sight lines. Individual or multiple frames can be used in self-supporting mode or coupled directly to the studio wall. Video display screens can be positioned so that the edges meet exactly to form a continuous horizontal display limited only by the monitor panel bezel. Monitor signal and power cables are fully concealed and can enter or leave the structure at any desired point.
Dega Broadcast Systems (www.dega.co.uk), established in 1988, is a fully independent and self-financing provider of systems integration services for the professional television and radio industry. Based in Basingstoke, the company carries out contracts in many parts of the world but works predominantly within the UK.
