On Thursday 1 September, local podcast Everything SA Music caused quite a stir on Twitter after releasing their list of the Top 20 Worst Rappers in South Africa . SA hip-hop fans weighed in on the list questioning why rappers like Cassper Nyovest weren't mentioned. Veteran rapper Ma-E, who placed 14th on the list, was of course not pleased that his name got a mention.

ARE THESE THE TOP 20 WORST RAPPERS IN SA? Taking to Twitter on 1 September, the Everything SA Music podcast named their pick of the top 20 worst rappers in Mzansi. L-Tido, iFani, Sean Pages, Reason aka Sizwe Alakaine and Nomuzi Mabena, all took the first five places.

The likes of Boity, Stilo Magolide, Nadia Nakai, Gigi Lamayne, Ex Global, Aewon Wolf and Da L.E.S were all mentioned on the list, but some tweeps called for Cassper Nyovest's name to be added.

MA-E RESPONDS TO WORST RAPPER LIST Responding to the viral worst rapper list, rapper Ma-E was not impressed about landing a spot on the list. The Ugogo hitmaker reflected on the impact he has on SA hip-hop.

The funny thing is y'all thinking this SA Hip-hop would have existed without Ma-E and Ntukza being part of the 1st generation that made this genre fashionable EMAKASI! wrote Ma-E.

In another tweet, Ma-E wrote: I sacrificed and contributed a lot to SA HIP-HOP to be disrespected by abafana abachel' ingubo.
