Set Swinger

Manage swinging of sets and any additional necessities for shooting in conjunction with the Tech ops crew assigned to assist as per weekly schedule, Make own schedule, working from the Tech Ops call sheet schedule, regarding redressing of swing sets in st 105 and st 101or as required, Check sets regularly for maintenance attention and report when extra materials are needed.

These checkups include electric wiring faults, dangerously loose flats and any damaged sets due to wear and tear or accidents. This is the responsibility of the Set Swinger at all times.

Paint touch-ups to be conducted on a regular basis, these must also be reported to the Line Manager as soon as these jobs are completed.

Line Manager will advise of any extra paint jobs as well as changes to different sets.

Any broken set furniture must be reported to the Line Manager and where possible, be repaired as soon as possible after they become known.

Report back to the Line Manager when they are completed.

Carry out any orders from Line Manager regarding any changes to sets and props

Do all carpentry work unless a qualified carpenter is needed for special jobs

A precise inventory of all tools should always be kept by the Set Swinger

Perform all other duties from time to time as per the requirement of your Line Manager and the company

Assist fellow crew where necessary in performing their duties

Adhering to health and safety regulations, e.g. keeping safe areas and fire exits clear of equipment, wearing appropriate safety gear

Requirements:

understanding of broadcast environment and language of television

ability to take direction from e.g. Directors/producers

Must be practical and handy with tools and machinery

ability to work under pressure, take initiative and be proactive

understanding of production e.g. live/pre-recorded programmes

computer literate e.g. email, word, excel etc

problem solving skills and attention to detail

ability to work independently

prepared to work flexible hours, including public holidays and weekends

Good understanding of the English language
