Former Isidingo actor Tshepo Maseko opens up about his late on-screen sister Lesego Motsepe, who played Lettie Matabane in the S3 soapie.

TSHEPO MASEKO WAS CRUSHED WHEN LESEGO MOTSEPE LEFT Actress Lesego Motsepe, who starred as Tshepo Maseko's sister Lettie Matabane in S3's canned soapie Isidingo got written out of the soapie before she passed away in real life.

When Isidingo got rid of the Matabane family they lost half of their Indian watchers. Do you know why because they're family-orientated? They are business people, they're respectful and family-orientated.

Maseko adds that South Africans were heartbroken when they got rid of Lettie Matabane first.

When my sister died, we pushed it to a point of reality and I cut off my dreads on TV. I never had dreads again. We couldn't fake her death, we had to make her death proper. I cried real tears. That may have been a contributing factor to Lesego's depression. When you watch how you are killed properly on TV. That says you are not coming back.

We mourned her before we shot it. Lesego died twice. She died when she heard the plan of the storyline, she died when it aired.

He adds that the show started getting rid of actors due to monetary issues. The stories got too real and made other institutions very uncomfortable.

Sowetan reports the actress exited the soapie in 2008, while Drum shares the much-loved actress disclosed her HIV status in 2011, and passed away in 2014.

In 2011 on World Aids Day the actress made a public announcement about her HIV status. She had been living with the disease since 1998. Since the public announcement, Lesego used her star power to draw awareness about HIV and AIDS through her work as an AIDS ambassador. For more than 10 years, Lesego played the role of the loveable and often troubled Lettie Matabane on the soapie Isidingo, reports Drum.

FORMER ISIDINGO' STAR ON THE ACTING INDUSTRY The talented actor Tshepo Maseko, who played Parsons Matebane in Isidingo also discusses the acting industry in South Africa.

Maseko begins by telling David that actors on Afrikaans-speaking soapies such as 7de Laan are getting paid better and that the storylines are family-orientated, unlike non-Afrikaans-speaking soapies.

Let's look at the Afrikaans acting industry .it's thriving. Even their music industry is thriving, You'll never find an actress from Kyknet showing off her thighs, private parts, etc. You won't get witchcraft storylines or hear them swearing at each other.

Look at 7de Laan, have you ever seen an actress or actor naked on 7de Laan? Have you ever seen them beating up a woman and calling her names? How long has that show been running? Ask the actors from that show how much they get paid?

When David asks are you saying the rates are very different?' Maseko replies: 'there are black actors on 7de Laan, almost every weekend they do roadshows and are sponsored and you'll never see them naked on the show.
