Academy-Village Collaboration Boosts Modern Agriculture

Nearly 3.3 acres of strawberries, including banana-berry, peach-berry and common berry, introduced by Xinjian village

together with Ningbo Academy of Agricultural Sciences, received high praise for their outstanding shape and taste.

Fine variety with good cultivation is the key to agricultural development. But how can technological achievements benefit

farmers? According to a researcher from Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Ningbo, Academy-Country Cooperation is the best

choice, which promotes fine variety and improve market competitiveness. Under this, farmer care little about technical

problems for each variety is under the charge of one specialist.

In the first half of 2016, fruit and vegetable professional cooperatives in Fenghua with Shanghai Academy of Agricultural

Sciences introduced 12 new breeds including Dongfangmi 1, Dongfangmi 2 and ornamental melon into 21.6 acres of

plantation. Praised by customers from Hangzhou and Ningbo, Dongfangmi 1, Dongfangmi 2 brought an increase in

production of 630 kilograms per Chinese mu, total income of 163,000 yuan, net profit 76,000 yuan.

Besides, Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences also join hands with Fenghua Yunwu Crop cooperatives. Huxiangjing

(Polished round-grained rice from Shanghai) and Hujing144 (polished round-grained rice) are planted under the principles

of organic rice at a height of 800m. Hujing144, both pretty and tasty, has a production of 300 kilogram per mu( 1 mu nearly

0.164 acre). In 2007, Hujing144, as a new breed, is widely planted.

Ningbo Academy of Agricultural Sciences, one cooperative organization, also brings many benefits. In 2016, 400 mu of potato

new breeds such as Holland 17 and Zhongshu 3 brings income of 4000RMB per mu under the teamwork of this academy and

Fenghua Fanshi farmland. After collaboration of Ningbo Haisheng Kechuang Trading Co., Ltd and Ningbo Academy of

Agricultural Sciences, wide update of refrigeration, preservation, and delivery go well.

When developing creative agriculture, Mailang farmland introduced 7 colorful rice breeds (40 mu)from Ningbo Academy of

Agricultural Sciences. Recently, Ningbo Creative Agricultural Meeting was held, which won much reputation. In 2016, it

introduced 6 mu of new rice breed----Huxiang from Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences. This breed is renowned for

its good lodging resistance and disease-resistance.

It is reported that the continuous cooperation between Ningbo Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Fenghua District in

Ningbo in 2017 will speed up agricultural modernization in the future.
