Idols SA judge and radio personality Somizi Mhlongo is reportedly returning to Metro FM.

SOMIZI MHLONGO: ALLEGED RETURN TO RADIO The TV and radio personality Somizi Mhlongo made headlines in 2021 after his Metro FM exit following Mohale Motaung's abuse claims.

An insider from the SABC radio station informed Zimoja this week that discussions regarding his radio comeback began in 2022 and were done cautiously to avoid media backlash. The source adds that Mhlongo has only shared the news with his friends so far.

Sunday World reported in August 2021 that Mhlongo requested time off from the SABC radio station.

The SABC revealed in a statement: The Corporation has also noted the comments on social media about Mr. Mhlongo and we would like to point out that the public service broadcaster does not condone any acts of abuse and violence.

The SABC can confirm that Metro FM SA management met with Mr. Somizi Mhlongo and he has requested to take some time off from work. Management has granted Mr. Mhlongo permission to do so.

The choreographer was a contributor to Ask A Man segment on DJ Dineo Ranaka's show called The Bridge at the time of his departure.

MAJOR CHANGES AT METRO FM? Zimoja adds that the media personality Somizi Mhlongo might not be the only radio star joining Metro FM this year.

According to sources. the station might also bring in Gagasi FM's breakfast host Felix Hlophe and 5FM's Smash Afrika for the 2023 lineup.

This is after TshisaLIVE reported that breakfast host MoFlava confirmed his departure from the SABC radio station this week in a statement:

The time has come for me to move on and explore other opportunities. I have spent eight amazing years at Metro FM and I appreciate the opportunity I was given to do top-level radio and touch lives. The Metro FM listeners have a special place in my heart.

The station's programs manager Siya Fikelephi reportedly refused to comment when contacted by Zimoja while SABC spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo's was unavailable at the time of publishing this article.

According to the SABC,

RADIO: Somizi still off Metro FM

Reports today claimed Somizi will be back on Metro on Monday.

SABC refutes this.
