Sony Pictures set social media on fire on Thursday 15 September after releasing the trailer for I Wanna Dance with Somebody, a biopic about legendary singer Whitney Houston. The film, starring English actress Naomi Ackie, will explore Whitney's rise to fame and feature some of her iconic hits.

I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY' TRAILER I Wanan Dance with Somebody, directed by Kasi Lemmons, is named after Whitney Houston's iconic hit of the same name. As per Deadline, Naomi Ackie was cast to play the legendary singer in December 2020.

Naomi Ackie impressed us at every stage of the process. I was moved by her ability to capture the stage presence of a global icon while bringing humanity to her interior life, said Stella Meghie, who was the director of the film before Kasi Lemmons took over.

American actor Stanley Tucci, best known for his roles in Burlesque and The Hunger Games, will be playing Houston's music producer, Clive Davis. Ashton Sanders will play the singer's husband, Bobby Brown.

The film is set to be released on 26 December.
