Sky 1 reveals an extended trailer and first-look images of the cast for Jamestown, a Sky Original Production from the makers of Downton Abbey, Carnival Films. The eight-part drama will premiere on Friday 5 May at 9pm on Sky 1 and online streaming service NOW TV.
1619, Virginia: on what feels like the edge of the world sits the first British colony of Jamestown. For 12 years, it has been populated only by men, but the settlement is shaken up when the first women, including Alice (Sophie Rundle), Verity (Niamh Walsh) and Jocelyn (Naomi Battrick), land in this breathtaking wilderness. Twisting storylines follow the disruptive new arrivals as they make an immediate impact and are thrust into a new world of love, desire, power and survival.
The first-look images reveal the three lead female cast members and male settlers including Max Beesley as Henry Sharrow, Dean Lennox Kelly as Meredith Rutter, Stuart Martin as Silas Sharrow and Matt Stokoe as James Read.
While love triangles, bitter rivalries and fierce competition cause conflict for the residents, ultimately they are bound together by their resolute will to survive and thrive in their new lives.
Written by Bill Gallagher (Lark Rise to Candleford, The Paradise), the drama is set during a unique period of adventure and features an ensemble cast that also includes Gwilym Lee, Jason Flemyng, Shaun Dooley, Steven Waddington and Burn Gorman.
