Tim Douwsma heeft de Ziggo Best Acting Talent Award gewonnen voor zijn speelfilmdebuut in het drugsdrama Spaak. Tijdens het Grand Gala Event van het SCENECS Filmfestival in Hilversum werd het 29-jarige talent in de spotlights gezet.
Tim Douwsma, bij het grote publiek bekend van de talentenjacht So You Wanna Be a Popstar, speelt de hoofdrol van een coke-snuivende student scheikunde die door een reeks foute keuzes in een Zweedse gevangenis belandt. Dankzij zijn talent voor wielrennen weet hij weer op het juiste pad te komen. Het jongerendrama van regisseur Steven de Jong is gebaseerd op de roman Groot Verzet van Paul Rood, en was tevens openingsfilm van SCENECS. In september gaat de film officieel in premi re.
Prachtige prestatie
De jury van het SCENECS Filmfestival zegt het volgende over Tim Douwsma: Tim weet de ontwikkeling die zijn personage doormaakt op een hele natuurlijke wijze over te brengen. Hij neemt het publiek mee in zijn worsteling en ontdekkingsreis. Gezien de complexiteit van deze rol is dit een prachtige prestatie van Tim Douwsma als speelfilmdebuut.
De award werd uitgereikt door Marieke Dekker, directielid van VodafoneZiggo. Ziggo en het SCENECS Filmfestival delen een passie voor media en entertainment. Het kernproduct van Ziggo is video. Binnen dat kader is het ook voor Ziggo van belang dat er kwalitatief hoogwaardige films worden gemaakt. Met onze steun aan SCENECS en de uitreiking van de Ziggo Best Acting Talent Award geven wij jong talent een zetje in de rug.
Tim Douwsma: Het is een heftige rol. Ik kan me voorstellen dat mensen die deze film zien denken: wow, is dat Tim? Maar ik heb heel bewust gekozen voor deze rol en diepgang. Daarom is het fantastisch om nu bekroond te worden met de Ziggo Best Acting Talent Award.
Over SCENECS
Het SCENECS International Debut Film Festival biedt internationale, startende filmmakers een platform om hun films te laten zien. In acht dagen tijd zijn in totaal 120 (inter)nationale fictiefilms en documentaires vertoond. Tijdens het afsluitende Grand Gala op 2 juni werden in totaal zes awards uitgereikt. Naast de Ziggo Best Acting Talent Award werden onder andere de SCENECS oeuvreprijs en de VUE Audience Award uitgereikt.
Het Grand Gala wordt op vrijdag 9 juni uitgezonden op Ziggo kanaal 13.
