It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. What a profound truth! A realization that eases the grip of life on man surrendering to God in all things. Partake in this feast as we consume food for the soul, nourishing the spirit in Breaking Bread. It is Monday, 18th July 2022.

Humble ourselves before the Lord and come to God Isaiah 1:18 : Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.'' Scarlet was a permanent pigment which could not be washed out. Our sins are exactly the same, only God can take them away. We must just humble ourselves before the Lord, lay our sins before Him and be saved.

Acknowledge our sinful and lost state before God Proverbs 28:13: Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.'' The word confess in this verse means to agree with God that we have sinned before Him by transgressing His holy law. It means that we agree that we deserve punishment for our sins. We must therefore stand before God as sinners and in our lost state and confess our sins to be saved by Him.

Remorse about our sins before God James 4:8-10: 8. Come near to God and He will come near to You. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up. If we do not have true and real remorse in our hearts about our sins before God, we will not be saved by Him. We should develop a 'disgust'' against sin.

PRAYER Lord, we pray for Your grace that exceeds our highest expectations. We pray that You give us the strength to live our lives in a way that will bring glory to Your name. Help us to bring honour to Your name by what we do, how we act and how we live our life. We pray all this in the wonderful name of Jesus. Amen.

Bekering is ook een van die stappe wat ons moet volg om gered te word. Ons moet ons hele lewe na God draai. Esegiel 33:11: Se vir hulle: So waar as wat Ek leef, spreek die Here Here, gewis. Ek het geen behae in die dood van die goddelose nie, maar daarin dat die goddelose hom bekeer van sy weg en sy lewe. Bekeer julle van julle verkeerde wee. Waarom tog wil julle sterwe.'' God wil dat ons, ons sondes moet laat staan en daarmee heeltemaal breek. God se wil is dat ons, ons rug op die sondes van die verlede draai. Ons moet Hom volg en gehoorsaam.

Ons moet as laaste stap van redding God nou volg in geloof. Romeine 1:17: Want die geregtigheid van God word daarin geopenbaar uit geloof tot geloof, soos geskrywe is: Maar die regverdige sal uit die geloof lewe.'' Ons moet God nou volg en vertrou. Dit is vir Hom belangrik dat ons nooit aan Hom sal twyfel nie. As ons werklik ernstig en opreg was in ons berou, belydenis en bekering, sal ons lewe van nou af baie verander.

GEBED Ewige God en Vader, ons siel is dors vir U redding. Dankie dat ons U troon kan nader om U redding te soek. Help ons om vol te hou in die geloof tot U. Amen
