Adam Gold
The National Sports Media Association has named 99.9 Sports Talk Host Adam Gold the 2022 NC Sportscaster of the Year. Gold is among 115 people honored across the country to win state sportscaster or sportswriter of the year honors.
The passion that Adam brings to his show each day is infectious as its evident that he loves entertaining and informing his audience with sports outcomes and the issues beyond the games, said WRAL-FM Brand/Content Manager Sammy Simpson. A well-deserved honor for his dedication, a connection to our local athletes and athletics, and years of hard work!
The Adam Gold Show airs weekdays noon until 3 p.m. on 99.9 The Fan in Raleigh, NC. It is also picked up by the North Carolina State-Wide Network with 11 affiliates. He is also the Carolina Hurricanes reporter for 99.9 The Fan and WRALSportsFan.com.
I hired Adam nearly 25 years ago as a part time sports update presenter, said CBC Vice President of Radio Brian Maloney. Needless to say, his career has flourished over the past two decades and hes become a fixture in Triangle sports media. I couldnt be more proud of Adam he is more than deserving of this honor!

Another CBC connection is being honored by the NSMA this year. Longtime ESPN anchor and former WRAL staffer, the late Stuart Scott will be posthumously inducted into the National Sports Media Association Hall of Fame. He is one of four voted for the honor in 2022.
Prior to joining ESPN in 1993, Scott spent three years as a news reporter at WRAL-TV. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987 after attending high school in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The NSMA will honor Gold and the other winners as well as Stuart and the Hall of Fame inductees during the organizations awards weekend and national convention on the last weekend of June 2022, in Winston-Salem, N.C.
