Pat Pillai leaves e.tv for youth development --

Veteran broadcaster and prime time news anchor Pat Pillai will be leaving e.tv news at the end of February after a ten year term. Pillai has resigned in order to focus more on his youth development work at Life College, an organisation he founded in 1997. They have helped over 55 000 South African children, teaching them life skills and boosting academic and entrepreneurial potential.
Commenting on his departure Pat Pillai says, It s been a memorable ten year journey that saw many news firsts, many stories that have shaped our political, economic and social landscape and many heartfelt moments of human triumph. I will miss the people I ve worked with and the viewers who tuned in regularly. From now on, I will join as a loyal viewer.
Pat, who qualified as a teacher in the eighties, founded Life College in 1997 (now named LifeCo UnLtd SA).
With recent investments totaling up to R40 million, the demand for our work has grown nationally and needs a special focus. Our youth leaders and entrepreneurs need us more than ever, says Pillai.
From Monday, 2 March 2015, the weekday bulletins will broadcast at 20h30, to cater for a later evening news audience.
Pillai s last bulletin will be at 19h00 on Thursday, 26 February 2015.
