TORONTO (December 11, 2014) Viewers can enjoy the gift that keeps on giving long after the holidays are over, with a roster of eagerly awaited new and returning smash-hit series coming to City's mid-season lineup. Two new original Canadian series and brand-new seasons of four returning favourites heat up the small screen all winter long, beginning January 8 on City.
Furthering City's commitment to delivering world-class Canadian programming, two all-new original series headline the network's 2015 mid-season lineup of must-see TV. Premiering January 8, Sunnyside, starring a talented ensemble cast featuring the hilarious Kathleen Phillips (Dan for Mayor, Mr. D) and Pat Thornton (Satisfaction, The Jon Dore Show), brings a bold, fresh new flavour of sketch comedy to prime time. From hipsters and young professionals to yoga moms and romantic crooks, Sunnyside is a quirky neighbourhood in transition, where residents aren't always what they seem and surprises lurk around every slightly dingy corner. Additionally, acclaimed Canadian comedian Norm MacDonald (Saturday Night Live) joins the cast as the voice of The Hole an open manhole that replaces the Internet in Sunnyside, where residents line up to ask questions.
The truly original and hilarious coming-of-age journey Young Drunk Punk, premiering January 21 and starring creator, writer, and executive producer Bruce McCulloch (Kids in the Hall), is a scripted-comedy series inspired by McCulloch's life and told through his unique point-of-view. The series follows Ian (Tim Carlson, Gracepoint) and Shinky (Atticus Mitchell, Fargo) as they embark on a hilarious and rebellious search to find out who they are, somewhere in the lost years between high school and what's next.
Rounding out the lineup is fiery reality competition series Hell's Kitchen (March 3), and the final seasons of smash-hit series Glee (January 9), quirky comedy Parks and Recreation (January 13), and wine-soaked comedy Cougar Town (February 19).
Plus, City amps up the star power as the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of The 57TH Annual GRAMMY Awards, airing live on February 8. Leading up to Music's Biggest Night , viewers get a front-row seat to exclusive Canadian coverage of the celebrity arrivals as part of the Entertainment City: Live at the GRAMMYs red carpet special. Details to be announced in the coming weeks.
Also returning to the mid-season schedule are new episodes of fan-favourites 2 Broke Girls, Black-ish, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Mike & Molly, The Middle, The Mindy Project, Modern Family, Mom, New Girl, Revenge, Scandal, and Scorpion. Plus, high-octane sports programming continues every Saturday and Sunday night with Hockey Night in Canada and Rogers Hometown Hockey.
Full episodes and exciting extras are available on Citytv.com next day post-broadcast, as well as on Rogers on Demand, Rogers Anyplace TV, and with the free City Video App for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, and on the City Video Mobile App for Android.
