The South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) revealed that Tshedza Pictures Productions telenovela Legacy received 12 nominations, while The River received nominations in 11 categories for this year's Telenovela and Soap Awards.

The craft winners for the 17th ceremony was announced on Friday, 29 September while the main awards were held on Saturday, 30 September.

ABOUT THE SAFTAS The South African Film and Television Awards were established in 2005 to honour, celebrate and promote the creativity, quality and excellence of South African Film and Television talent and productions, according to the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa (NFVF).

The publication adds that the awards serve to encourage entrepreneurship and the development of new talent within the industry and each award recipient is presented with the Golden Horn' trophy.
The Golden Horn' has three heads symbolising collective effort, community, and the recognition of the individual as part of a team - an experience inherent to the film and television industry where collaboration is the cornerstone of successful productions.
