SGO Reports Succeful IBC

SGO has experienced yet another successful IBC in Amsterdam, attracting interest from many post facilities and major broadcasters concerning its world-leading Mistika post production system and Mamba FX compositor. SGO released v8.2 of its Mistika software back in August and previewed v8.4 on the show floor, focusing on support for 4K, Ultra HD, high frame rate (HFR) and high dynamic range (HDR).

Mistika version 8.2 introduced new features for manipulating multilayer EXR sequences with its powerful Spatial Isolation Toolset. Version 8.4 further expands support for Open EXR 2.2, including SXR and MXR file formats, including optimisation for faster playback. The system's support for Dolby Vision, improved ACES workflows and Dolby Atmos DCP generation, including Mistika's next-generation colour finishing functionalities supporting the stylish new Precision Grading Panels, were a highlight at the SGO Booth. A recent hardware update is GPU acceleration from NVIDIA's Quadro K5200 graphics card providing higher performance, 8GB of on-board memory and more data-handling capability.

New storage options include HPZ820 workstation configuration with 12 internal 1 TB drives as well as Dot Hill Assured SAN 4004 storage array supporting ATTO 16 Gb/sec fibre-channel host bus adapters and switches. Other key features include HD live output with 4K rendering, a stunning new node graph editor, additional support for file formats rendering to XAVC, Sony RAW 6K and 8K, RED Dragon, 6K, Canon RMF, native support for YUV444 colour space and YUVA 4444, as well as rendering to ProRes 444 with the Alpha channel. The vector scopes and waveform representation have also been upgraded. New options are available for conforming and timecode display for HFR projects.

Mamba FX Version 2.0 was displayed boasting unlimited layers of compositing in a resolution-free, node-based environment, and includes many of the unique capabilities from Mistika 8.2. Running on Windows, Linux and now also available on MAC, Mamba FX can be purchased here.

In addition, SGO's upgrade program targeting users of the discontinued Avid DS has also being extended until the end of the year, and is offering a new, lower price point for its Mistika Post software with a DVS Atomix video card, including a free Mamba FX license. More information here.

Furthermore, SGO sponsored the IBC Colorist Mixer Event hosted by the International Colorist Academy resulting in a good turnout with an awards ceremony marking the end of the evening.
