Legendary American rapper Talib Kweli is set to touch down on South African soil for performances in Johannesburg on Friday 30 September and Saturday 1 October. Kweli is one of the international acts set to perform at the Back to the City hip-hop festival on 1 October.

WHO IS TALIB KWELI? Talib Kweli is best known for his hip-hop group, Black Star, which he formed with legendary rapper Mos Def. The New York-born rapper has collaborated with musicians like Common, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Busta Rhymes and R&B star Miguel. He has also collaborated with South Africa's Cassper Nyovest.

Over the years, the 46-year-old rapper has released eight solo albums and nine collaborative albums, including his most recent, No Fear of Time.

No Fear of Time is an album by Talib Kweli and Mos Def (who is now known as Yasiin Bey), which was officially released on 3 May. The nine-track album comes after their 1998 album, Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star.

TALIB KWELI IN SOUTH AFRICA The American rapper is set to perform at two shows in South Africa this weekend. Kweli will kick off his Mzansi performances at the Untitled Basement in Braamfontein, Johannesburg on Friday 30 September.

On Saturday 1 October, Kweli will be turning up the heat as an international act at Back to the City in Newtown, Johannesburg. Hip-hop group Lost Boyz and rapper Keith Murray are also international guests.

Local artists AKA, A-Reece, Blxckie, YoungstaCPT, Maglera Doe Boy, Costa Titch, Emtee, Touchline and 25K are also set to perform at Back to the City.
