
HBO Max Builds Out Stellar Non-fiction Programming Team

LOS ANGELES - September 23, 2019 - The senior executives tapped to lead original non-fiction content for HBO Max were announced today by Jennifer O'Connell, Executive Vice President, Original Non-Fiction and Kids, HBO Max. The non-fiction team includes Lizzie Fox, Senior Vice President, Non-fiction Programming, and Rebecca Quinn, Vice President, Non-fiction Original Programming, both reporting into O'Connell; and Brett Boydstun, Senior Vice President, Non-fiction Production, reporting into Mark Weissman, Senior Vice President, Production, HBO Max. Bringing stellar experience in unscripted, the group will create a robust slate of non-fiction originals for WarnerMedia's direct-to-consumer offering scheduled to launch in spring of 2020.
Non-fiction storytelling will be a crucial component to HBO Max and we now have the leadership and team in place to bring the best this genre has to offer to our offering, said Kevin Reilly, Chief Content Officer, HBO Max, President, TNT, TBS & truTV.
This senior team is phenomenal, having a formidable wealth of experience in the non-fiction space, said O'Connell. As a multi-Emmy winner, Lizzie has a reputation for producing a list of critically-acclaimed and award-winning documentaries and non-fiction series. Rebecca has a proven track record of creating and producing internationally renowned formats and franchises. I'm so fortunate to have this killer team to help build up the HBO Max non-fiction slate with our producing partners, both within the WarnerMedia family, as well as the rest of the creative community.
Brett has overseen production at top production companies and produced some of the industry's most popular hit shows, said Weissman. His ability to apply his extensive experience and knowledge on day one has been a great addition to the non-fiction team.
Brett Boydstun has been named Senior Vice President, Non-fiction Production, HBO Max. He will lead production efforts and cultivate relationships within the production community. Previously Boydstun was Executive Vice President, Head of Production for Karga Seven Pictures, working on hit series including JFK: Declassified, Hunting Hitler and The Hunt for the Zodiak Killer. Prior to Karga Seven, he spent 13 years at Pilgrim Studios, working in many capacities, including SVP of Production Finance and Operations. His previous experience was in the film world, working on over 40 productions, including The Prophecy, 10 Things I Hate About You, Jurassic Park 3 and X Men.
Lizzie Fox has been named Senior Vice President, Non-fiction Programming, HBO Max. She will lead premium non-fiction programming strategy and develop original content for the WarnerMedia direct-to-consumer offering. Fox comes from CNN, where she most recently served as Vice President, CNN Original Series and managed the production of more than 40 original non-fiction series including the Peabody and Emmy Award -winning Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown; Emmy Award -winning United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell; This is Life with Lisa Ling; Emmy Award -nominated The Sixties; Emmy Award -nominated The Seventies; The Eighties and The Nineties, executive produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog. Previous to CNN, Fox held positions at Sundance, Independent Film Channel and Viacom Productions.
Rebecca Quinn has been named Vice President, Non-fiction Original Programming, HBO Max. She will lead the development of original programming for the WarnerMedia direct-to-consumer offering. Previously Quinn was Head of Development for Matt Kunitz's Pulse Creative, under a deal at Lionsgate, where they created and produced pilots, network presentations and series including Kicking and Screaming for FOX, Candy Crush for CBS, and Kevin Hart: What the Fit for YouTube. Rebecca served as Executive Producer on all three series. Prior to Lionsgate, Rebecca was involved in the development of the international format Wipeout and served as Supervising Producer on NBC's Deal or No Deal and Fear Factor, as well as ABC's Extreme Makeover: HomeEdition.
