Lawo presents at CABSAT their IP-based Product Line-Up posted: 07/03/2019
Lawo broadcast audio, video control and monitoring solutions (Hall 2, Stand D2-20)
Lawo, German innovator and manufacturer of pioneering IP network, control, audio and video technology for live broadcast, studio and performing arts, will present at CABSAT (Hall 2, Stand D2-20) their IP based broadcast audio and video production, control and monitoring technology alongside their radio product line. This year's setup in Dubai comprises the new mc 56 3rd Generation production console, the Bundesliga-approved KICK automated mixing control for close-ball mixing, Lawo's V__matrix Software-defined IP-Routing, Processing & Multi-Viewing Platform, the VSM (Virtual Studio Manager) independent overarching broadcast control system as well as the SMART System Monitoring and Realtime Telemetry for Broadcast Networks. Also demoed will be Lawo's powerful ruby radio console with a customizable, context-sensitive visual interface and the Power Core Audio Mixing Engine.
The new mc 56 (3rd Generation) is optimized for today's IP-video production environment - providing Lawo's revolutionary LiveView thumbnail previews of video streams directly in the fader strip - and is designed from the ground up for networking in complex production infrastructures, with full native support for SMPTE 2110, AES67 / RAVENNA, DANTE and MADI audio streams. Its renowned, best-in-class networking performance rises to even greater heights thanks to unique new capabilities such as IP-Share gain compensation and DSCA Dynamic Surface to Core Allocation. Because reliability is paramount, the console's local I/O provides dual-redundant IP network interfaces to deliver two simultaneous, identical, connections to the Nova73 router, following the SMPTE 2022-7 Hitless Merge standard for stream and port redundancy. Comprehensive local I/O includes 16 Lawo-grade Mic/Line inputs, 16 Line outputs, eight AES3 inputs and outputs, eight GPIO, and a local MADI port (SFP). Available in frames from 16 to 112 faders, mc 56 supports a massive 8,192 x 8,192 crosspoints, with 888 DSP channels, 144 summing buses and 128 Aux buses at 44.1 - 96kHz operation. With a 64-fader surface suited to most OB vehicle dimensions, a 16-fader stand-alone extender may be added to an mc 56 for subsequent expansion at any time
KICK is the ball tracking technology for close-ball audio pickup for sports such as soccer, rugby and American football. The system provides transparent sound and excellent kick-to-noise' ratio, significantly reducing crowd noise. It also ensures a consistent audio level without noticeable fades for seamless inclusion in a broadcast mix, delivering a mix that is 100% repeatable from match to match and remains highly accurate even after 90 minutes of play. Responsible for producing all Bundesliga football matches, DFL (German Football League Association) subsidiary Sportcast has been using KICK in sports production since the 2017/2018 season for live tracking of the players to optimally control the microphones that record the action on the playing field and mix the sound - with a television audience enjoying a completely new and close-to-the-match sound.
Lawo Ruby
Lawo's groundbreaking V__matrix ecosystem is based on generic high capacity FPGA-based processing blades upon which software-defined Virtual Modules (VM) are loaded to create the functionality required. The range of VMs include the vm_dmv64-4 - the world's 1st infinitely expandable true IP multiviewer and the vm__UDX - 4K format converter. Multiple cores are connected through redundant 40GE (or 4x10GE) Ethernet interfaces to an IP network to form a distributed IP routing and processing matrix that provides frame-accurate, clean switching just like a legacy baseband matrix.
On show is also the VSM IP broadcast control system: VSM (Virtual Studio Manager) brings together all the requirements for a safe and flexible broadcast operation. Lawo's IP control solution abstracts the physical units from the user providing a single overall control solution featuring seamless baseband & IP integration, the broadest 3rd-party control capabilities (incl. broadcast and AV equipment), and an intuitive operational user interface. The everything under one roof philosophy unites technical devices and operators in a most adaptable way. User panels and interfaces can be configured without limitation to meet the requirements of different workflows and applications, while the whole system is under redundant control. The IP infrastructure of a VSM network, including all control panels, interfaces and external devices, guarantees easy installation. All the advantages of IP connectivity, such as its high data performance and standard management components, increase the power of a complete broadcast system.
Lawo's SMART range includes the smartDASH System Monitoring and Realtime Telemetry, vendor-agnostic enterprise software for network and media visibility across an all-IP, all-SDI or hybrid WAN/LAN broadcast infrastructure, and the smartSCOPE Deep Packet Inspection & Network Analyzer, a media-agnostic, high-density 24/7 analysis platform for IP flows in live production and delivery.
Sleek, intuitive, and powerful, Ruby mixing console is designed for today's radio. New SMPTE 2022-7 Seamless Protection Switching combined with standards-based AES67 AoIP delivers flawless networking for mission-critical applications. Customizable, context-sensitive touchscreen GUI provides a smooth, integrated workflow; complements familiar physical controls to give instant response in fast-paced production environments. Ruby comes with VisTool, the ultimate screen builder for custom studio control GUIs. VisTool lets you create context-sensitive touchscreens to control mixing consoles, routing ma
