Xiangshan County Achieved Stable Economic Progre in the First Quarter

As sources from local Bureau of Commerce suggested in April 24th, total retail sales of consumer goods above designated size of Xiangshan County reached 0.871 billion yuan in the first quarter of 2016, up 10.3% over last year, which marked a stable start for its economic progress. Besides, the county's accommodation and catering industry and e-business also prospered.

We are still confronted with complex internal and external environment and downward economic pressure, but on the whole our economy progressed steadily as the market-led industrial transformation effectively invigorated market participants, said an official of the Bureau. He added that boosted by the popularity of holiday gatherings and package tours, the catering industry was thriving with a diversified tendency. Statistics indicated that the revenue above designated size of accommodation and catering in the county increased by 13.3% and 27.9% respectively over last year. And the 10 enterprises in these industries that were under surveillance owned totally 7.1 million yuan, up 17.7%. Popular restaurants with special foods kept prospering, especially those trendy theme restaurants in the commercial plazas which sometimes even don't have a seat left.

The development of e-business also showed favorable momentum. According to statistics, online retail sales of Xiangshan reached 99 million yuan during the first three months. As the environment kept improving, E-commerce Innovation Park attracted 24 e-business firms in its first phase, while the ongoing phase two already drew over 30 applicants. Moreover, e-business also flourished in rural areas where online store project met with enthusiasm. Currently, 55 service stations at the village level have been established and put into service. By March, total sales there amounted to 8.51 million yuan with over 43,000 orders.

Besides, influenced by the broader environment and online shopping, the auto industry of the county underwent a slack season with declining sales in both wholesale and retail business. According to statistics, all the 15 auto companies in Xiangshan reaped 0.34 billion yuan in sales within the first quarter, up 6.3% over last year. Meanwhile, the county's traditional wholesale and retail industry showed an uneven development, with actual growth rate reaching 6.7%. To boost local commerce, the county, while providing targeted service, steadily carried forward the construction of vital projects. At present, the construction of the trade center of Auto Square has entered another stage where installation of facilities and ancillary works will be finished; transformation of Wangjiahe Food Market will soon be initiated; other projects including the construction of the Oriental Mall are nearly completed, already preparing for business; the construction of Shenyi Square fares well and the project in Xinhai Square has embarked on some preliminary work.
