Belarus TV invests in Grass Valley for HD OB content delivery of the 2019 European Games

MONTREAL, January 23, 2019 Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, has joined forces with the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus (Belarus TV) to deliver optimized, end-to-end workflows and infrastructure for the broadcasters four new outside broadcast (OB) vans. Designed and built by German OB specialists Broadcast Solutions GmbH, these new vans will produce and deliver coverage of the 2019 European Games, taking place in Minsk from June 21-30, 2019.

Belarus TV, which operates six television channels and five radio stations, is migrating from SD to HD and wanted to leverage more efficient and flexible workflows to optimize its live event coverage. Fitted out with a complete end-to-end HD workflow and infrastructure from Grass Valley, the new OB vans will enable the broadcaster to meet the growing demands from viewers for more live sports coverage and better quality images.

This investment is an extension of Grass Valleys collaboration with Belarus TV, having previously worked with Broadcast Solutions to deliver a significant upgrade to two of Belarus TVs production studios that included Kahuna production switchers, Sirius 800 routers and a host of other Grass Valley equipment. The national broadcasters decision to work with Grass Valley on this HD OB project was driven by the confidence that its solutions deliver the required quality and efficiency. Grass Valley supplied its Focus 75 switchable HD system camera, LDX 82 and LDX 86 cameras, and each van is fitted with the K2 Dyno S replay system, a Karrera K-Frame production switcher, EDIUS editing capability, a Sirius router and iQ Modular interfacing and signal processing. Recording and editing is supported by the Grass Valley T2 solution.
