Blue Table Post is a studio founded by Emmy Award-winning editor Oliver Lief and was built on being a connector for the commercial, documentary, and feature film communities to nurture and enhance creativity. Dedicated to these ideals, the studio recently expanded its talent roster with editors and colorists with experience in both entertainment and advertising, and developed a semi-remote collaboration process where clients can work from Blue Table's private garden terrace.
A rich and diverse offering of edit, color, sound and vfx is available to clients near and far, including new members of the creative collective: editors Crandall Miller, Katie Pehowski, Dean Gonzalez and colorists Liz Fornango and CJ Dobson. It also welcomes Sharon Lew as its new sales representative, whose special skill is crafting long term relationships between artists and their clients.
Blue Tables bridge between fully remote and the intimacy of on-site collaboration is made possible by the studio's unique location and design. Housed in the bottom two floors of a small private building in which Blue Table is the only occupant, the flexible space provides opportunities for both outdoor and indoor collaborations. Visitors walk by a wall mural created by artist Katie Merz. and enter the outdoor workspace directly from the street. Blue Table can stream picture and sound to a monitor in its private garden where socially distanced in-person conversations can also take place. On inclement weather days, Blue Table offers a private workspace for individual clients who desire proximity to talent or an alternative place to work.
There are a number of agency creatives and film clients that live within walking distance of Blue Table, which inspired the idea of creating a safe collaboration process with our garden terrace, explains Lief. We all want to be productive and creative - and remote collaboration has actually allowed us to expand our talent offering and think more globally while embracing the special environment we have in beautiful Boerum Hill, Brooklyn.
In addition to project collaborations, Blue Table has been a meeting place for industry organizations and events, and is a gallery for emerging and noted fine art exhibitions. The most recent show, DISCONTINUUM - encaustic work of Amy Weil - was hung in March of 2020. In lieu of an in-person show, Amy's art is currently exhibited on the Blue Table website and a Zoom opening will be held on September 12th, 2020. Amy and guest artists from previous Blue Table shows will discuss the great discontinuum and how it has affected their work and their ideas. The event is open to the public and Blue Table's team and clients will attend.
Artists of all kinds, from painters to documentary filmmakers to commercial editors, have experienced a massive upheaval and are discovering - and creating - new perspectives and ways of working. Known for his comedic timing and knack for visual storytelling, Crandall Miller has collaborated with a range of NYC's top agencies for nearly two decades, shepherding high-profile projects seamlessly through the post process. Crandall has cut music videos for the likes of Beck, Fall Out Boy and Feist, and the music video spoof Tea Partay for Smirnoff which became a viral sensation winning awards at AICP, Cannes, and D&AD. In addition to his award winning commercial and music video work, Crandall has edited numerous short films that have been featured in festivals across the world.
Katie Pehowski is a film and television encyclopedia who has worked as an editor for Grey, BBDO, McCann, GSD+M, FCB and received a One Show award for her work with Saatchi Wellness on the Crossroads Community Service campaign to combat hunger and homelessness in NYC. Known for visually striking and docu-style commercial work, she is also well-versed in editing for social and non-standard formats.
Born and raised in Chicago, Dean Gonzalez established himself as a versatile editor, working with music video artists like Aerosmith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, NAS, LL Cool J, Kid Rock, Nicki Minaj and commercial clients such as Reebok, Nike, Bose, J. Crew, Michelob Ultra, McDonald's and Kohl's. Dean edited the Green Day documentary Heart like a hand Grenade, and The Tale of Four, Actor Gabourey Sidibes directorial debut. He also cut the 2017 Cannes Film Festival premiering film They, produced by Jane Campion and directed by Anahita Ghazvinizadeh, which was nominated for the Golden Camera and Queer Palm award.
Colorists:
CJ Dobson, CSI has been a colorist working for over 11 years on award winning commercials, narrative features and documentaries. Her mastery across multiple genres informs each project with a unique perspective. Having worked at some of the industry's leading post production facilities and joined Blue Table's roster for remote work from Melbourne. Some of her most notable work is Tanna (2017 Academy Award nominee for best international feature film), Escape from Pretoria, and Relic (2020 Official selection Sundance and SXSW).
Liz Fornango has been in post production for a decade as both an editor and a colorist. Her work includes award-winning independent features and shorts, commercial work for GRRRL Clothing and Total Wine, music videos, and social campaigns.
