Yinzhou-based SMEs makes industrial standards

Located at Jiangshan Town, Yinzhou District, Ningbo Rongke NC Tool Limited Company has spent three years presiding over formulating the production standards of combined indexable depth drills in China, which makes convertible tools into reality and saves energy resources. Such national standards will be implemented in March 2016.

As for an enterprise whose annual sales is less than 20 million RMB, how can Ningbo Rongke successfully preside over the formulation of the national standards for machinery industry? According to the boss Chen Jie, Ningbo Rongke is small but specialized, steady but ready for changes, which is the key to its success.

In 2008, the financial crisis in America stirred the whole world, let alone some industrial enterprises. At that time, Ningbo Rongke, specialized in incoming machining, made a bold decision to focus to the R&D of the specialized and precise NC tools

NC tools were still rare in Chinese market then. Although nearly 70% to 80% work in the machinery industry requires drilling, a majority of companies still adopt traditional and cheap twist drills. Imported indexable drills can increase work efficiency to around 10 times, but the price is overwhelming.

Chen Jie was confident in the transformation of Ningbo Rongke. Influenced by the financial crisis, enterprises would rely on machinery upgrading to reduce labor cost. Chen Jie calculated that for one drilling task, it takes new drills 18 minutes while traditional drills 150 minutes. It costs 20 to 30 thousand RMB for an imported drill while 1 to 2 thousand RMB for a traditional drill. Chen Jie was confident enough to lower over 50% cost for a new drill by his research and development.

After the goal set, Ningbo Rongke redoubles its efforts to move forward. Ningbo Rongke imports and improves precision instruments according to domestic demands, and cooperates with research institutions in colleges and universities to get their opinions. As a result, Ningbo Rongke successfully makes a breakthrough in NC drilling and gains over 20 patents. In 2015, it was named the national new high-tech enterprise.

NC drills of Ningbo Rongke on exhibition in Beijing three years ago drew the attention of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China. Thus, it was authorized to preside over the formulation of the national standards for machinery industry. It takes Ningbo Rongke to set up, draw up, revise and prove the project. In Mid-October 2015, the production standards of combined indexable depth drills was issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and will be implemented on March 2016 as planned.

Ningbo Rongke is more and more famous during this period also. Currently, it has owned over 1600 retails in China and realizes the average annual growth of 30% to 40%. The increased revenue is invested to facilities and R&D in turn.

With the hope of the future, Chen Jie says, It is not enough to top the niche market in China. We should participate in the international competition.
