Reality show Utopia brought to life by Sony

(09/12/2014) Utopia, the new reality TV show the world is talking about, is set to hit Turkish television screens soon, having been captured using Sony technology. Acun Medya chose Sonys professional products to produce the show for TV8, which will be available to view both online and via televisions. The show, originally developed in the Netherlands, follows the lives of 15 competitors, who are filmed as they live together in a remote uninhabited area where they have to build a community from scratch. The competition will take place over 10 months, with the camera crews and production teams also living in the same remote location, using Sony technology to deliver a superior audio and visual experience.

Flexible usage options, excellent picture and sound quality

The Sony products used to shoot Utopia include BRC-Z330 and BRC-Z700 robotic cameras - which provide excellent HD images, even in low light - and EVI-H100S robotic cameras for night shooting. Sony's fully digital DWX wireless microphone series will then provide peerless high quality digital audio, with full remote control of the transmitters being enabled through Sony's unique Cross Remote RF control function.

The BRC-Z330 and BRC-Z700 robotic cameras can be mounted on ceilings or any other flat surface, with their wide-range pan / tilt / zoom features offering superior usability in a variety of remote shooting applications. The auto-focus optical zoom lens allows users to shoot small or distant objects and the cameras are designed to meet the demand for Full HD images. The BRC-Z330 also has the distinction of being the smallest camera of its kind on the marketplace, ensuring a discrete shooting presence. HD-SDI video output and precise Exmor CMOS image sensor mean the Sony EVI-H100S night vision camera offers detailed Full HD picture quality, even in extremely low light.

The DWX series of digital wireless microphones will provide 24 channels of UHF wireless microphone technology, offering superb sound quality and easy set-up, ideal for live production. Eight Sony AN-01 UHF antennas, alongside the RMU-01 wireless remote control units, will be used to cover the full 10,000m2 area, providing drop-out free transmission for the show.
