Following the news in September that Edgio had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Akamai has announced it has acquired customer contracts from the company's security and content delivery business.
Akamai has also acquired non-exclusive license rights to Edgio's patent portfolio.
The deal excludes any assets connected to Edgio's network infrastructure, said Akamai.
The sale is pending approval from the bankruptcy court, with a hearing scheduled for November 25th, 2024.
According to Akamai, the acquisition will extend its existing portfolio of security solutions and content delivery networks, reinforcing the company's commitment to providing robust online business protection and performance.
