Netflix announced the release of their first Afrikaans title Ludik which stars iconic actor Arnold Vosloo on 26 August.

NETFLIX ANNOUNCES THEIR FIRST AFRIKAANS TITLE LUDIK' Netflix's first Afrikaans title series Ludik is set to release globally on 26 August. The racy six-part series features South African-born Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo (Silvertone Siege) in the titular role of Daan Ludik.

The series revolves around Ludik. He appears to be a salt of the earth oke, styling himself as a wholesome family man running a successful furniture business. However, behind the veneer of respectability, Ludik is steeped in the underworld that sees him crossing paths with mobsters and murderers.

So, with his family in turmoil, jail time on the horizon and death imminent. Ludik must rely on both his old and new allies to prevail and save his everything.

Maximum woes (chaos) is what ensues, said Rose and Oaks Media, the producers and brainchild of the series led by Anele Mdoda, Paul Buys and Frankie Du Toit.

The series mixes some knuckle-busting action, OTT Afrikaans humour and loads of twists from start to finish.

So, what is the series about?

Daan Ludik coming from nothing, has built his own kingdom. This successful furniture salesman is the face of his business. He is heard on radio, seen on television and billboards, reads the synopsis.

A family man in the affluent Pretoria East, but with a secret that is connected to the underworld. With his family life in turmoil, Daan's resourcefulness and priorities are constantly challenged as he risks exposure, losing his family, jail time and death. As he struggles to keep his personal relationships and business intact, he has to rely on both old and new allies to prevail, the synopsis continues.
