KCET RECEIVES AMERICAN PUBLIC TELEVISIONS PROGRAMMING EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR 2011

Los Angeles - Nov. 21, 2011 - KCET, the nations largest independent public television station serving Southern and Central California, has been honored by American Public Television (APT) with the 2011 Programming Excellence Award for its BBC World News broadcast.

The prestigious award, which KCET received at an APT ceremony this month in Memphis, TN, acknowledges programs that demonstrate outstanding production values through scope of content, execution, and degree of creativity. Programs and series that receive the award also must provide extraordinary content, above-average ratings and carriage, and demonstrate general production excellence, according to APT.

APT distributes various top-rated programs to KCET, including the travel show Globe Trekker; the highly acclaimed British comedy series Doc Martin; and the recent Daytime Emmy Award-Winning Simply Ming and Joseph Rosendos Travelscope.
