
KCETLink Media Group to Receive $50,000 National Endowment for the Arts Grant Award, Among 1,023 Made Nationally
BURBANK, Calif. - May 8, 2015 - KCETLink Media Group, a leading national independent non-profit public broadcast and digital network, has announced it has received a $50,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). Through its grant-making to thousands of nonprofits each year, NEA promotes opportunities for people in communities across America to experience the arts and exercise their creativity.
In the second major grant announcement of fiscal year 2015, the NEA will make a $50,000 award to KCETLink Media Group for the purpose of supporting ARTBOUND, KCETLinks innovative award-winning art curation series that utilizes more than 75 arts journalists located throughout 11 Southern California counties. The NEA will make 1,023 awards totaling $74.3 million nationwide in this funding round.
NEA Chairman Jane Chu said, The NEA is committed to advancing learning, fueling creativity, and celebrating the arts in cities and towns across the United States. Funding these new projects like the one from KCETLink Media Group represents an investment in both local communities and our nations creative vitality.

This gift will go a long way in helping us to continue to invest in the creativity of Southern California with ARTBOUNDs seventh season and create captivating and compelling media content around the diverse arts and culture scene of our region.
Launched in 2012, KCETLinks ARTBOUND is an expansive transmedia program that re-imagines art curation by utilizing over 75 arts journalists, located throughout 11 Southern California counties, who continually scan the cultural landscape for emerging, mid-career, and/or under-publicized artists, arts groups, and arts movements. ARTBOUND journalists provide a constant stream of written articles that are edited by KCET editorial staff and published daily, Monday through Friday. Every other week, the most read and shared article is positioned alongside the Editors Pick and audience members vote on the most compelling story. The article with the most votes is then made into an ARTBOUND video. Voting actively engages our audience as citizen curators. Four times each season, the best online video material is compiled and supplemented with additional interviews and footage to create a one-hour broadcast television episode.
