Los directores de fotograf a Eduardo Serra, Dean Cundey y Richard Rawlings recibir n el reconocimiento de sus compa eros de profesi n durante la 28 gala anual de la Sociedad Americana de Directores de Fotograf a (ASC) el pr ximo 1 de febrero de 2014.
Cundey recibir el Premio a la Trayectoria de la ASC; Serra recoger el Premio al Logro Internacional y Rawlings ser galardonado con el premio a la mejor trayectoria en televisi n.
Eduardo Serra (Lisboa, 2 de octubre de 1943), de 1960 a 1963, estudi Ingenier a en el Instituto Superior T cnico de Lisboa, pero tuvo que abandonar el pa s despu s de su participaci n en las protestas estudiantiles contra la dictadura de Salazar. Se estableci en Francia, donde fue admitido en la Escuela Nacional Superior Louis-Lumi re de Par s, gradu ndose en 1966. En 1970 obtuvo su segunda titulaci n en la Universidad de la Sorbona, en Historia del Arte y Arqueolog a.
Serra was nominated for the Academy Award for best cinematography for his work on the film of The wings of the Dove (1997) y The girl with the Pearl Earring (2003). De igual forma, fue nominado a los Premios BAFTA a la Mejor fotograf a por su obra en dichas pel culas. Entre m s de 50 largometrajes en su haber, destacan Harry Potter y las Reliquias de la Muerte (I y II), Blood Diamond, Beyond the Sea, Unbreakable, y La viuda de Saint-Pierre , entre otros. En 2004, por sus servicios a mejorar la cultura portuguesa, fue galardonado con la prestigiosa Orden del Infante D. Enrique, uno de los m s altos honores otorgados en su Portugal natal.
Por su parte, Dean Cundey fue nominado a un Oscar por su innovador trabajo en Qui n enga a Roger Rabbit?, la pel cula rodada en 1988 protagonizada por personajes animados y actores de carne y hueso. Fue uno de los pioneros en el uso de la tecnolog a motion control (control de movimiento), haciendo posible que directores como Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard y Robert Zemeckis materializaran sus ideas en pel culas como Parque Jur sico, Hook, el capit n Garfio, Apolo 13 y la trilog a de Regreso al futuro. Sin sus conocimientos de motion control no habr a sido posible crear la ilusi n de que Lindsay Lohan ten a una hermana gemela en T a Londres y yo a California, su primera colaboraci n con Nancy Meyers, con la que volvi a unirse en 2000 para rodar En qu piensan las mujeres. Cundey colabor con John Carpenter en la producci n de Halloween, La niebla , Escape from New York, La Cosa , Halloween II y III , y Golpe en la peque a China.
Richard Rawlings creci en Hollywood, bajo la tutela de su padre, el tambi n director de fotograf a Richard Rawlings Sr. Su primera serie de televisi n como director de fotograf a fue en 1978 en los ngeles el fen meno cultural de Charlie . Luego estuvo al frente de la fotograf a de series como Matt Houston, Stingray, LA Law, Boston Public, Gilmore Girls and Desperate Housewives, entre otros. Ha sido nominado al Emmy por la serie Ohara (1987), El para so (1988), Reasonable doubts (1991) y la tv movie Big Dreams & Broken Hearts: The Dottie West Story (1995) . Rawlings tambi n gan un Premio ASC Outstanding Achievement por Para so en 1989 , y otra nominaci n para la serie en 1990. En 1993 , recibi su tercera nominaci n al Premio ASC para el telefilm Cuando nadie quiso escuchar.
