The River fans are thrilled to know that their favourite villainous character, Lindiwe will be freed from prison by her husband Bangizwe (Siyabonga Thwala) soon.

Wednesday, 17 January: Bangizwe learns Lindiwe's freedom will cost him something more valuable than he could have imagined.

Friday, 19 January: Lindiwe tastes freedom.

Fans of the 1Magic telenovela are comparing Lindiwe and Bangizwe to Thabo Bester, who escaped prison thanks to his lover, Dr Nandipha.

This is after Lindiwe's ex-husband Zweli arrested her and got her sentenced to prison for the string of murders she committed in Refilwe.

THE RIVER' ENDS DStv confirms that the 1Magic telenovela The River is coming to an end after six seasons.

Created by Tshedza Pictures' duo Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon, the show won 26 Golden Horn statuettes at the South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) and starred Sindi Dlathu as Lindiwe Dikana, Presley Chweneyagae, Hlomla Dandala etc.

Shirley Adonisi, director of local entertainment channels at M-Net sayd: At M-Net Local Entertainment Channels we would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to the cast and crew of The River for a memorable five years.
