PlayBox Technology UK, the leading channel in a box provider for media companies worldwide, has delivered two AirBox playout systems to WooHoo Channel for its broadcast and streaming services in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The new playout solutions deliver full functionality for the popular channel.
WooHoo aims to serve the broad cultural diversity of Brazil, with programmes around music, art, gastronomy, travel, sports, lifestyle and more. The channel is available on all the popular pay-TV platforms in the country, as well as streamed online.
To allow it to focus its resources on programme-making and audience engagement, WooHoo has now moved to a comprehensive content management and delivery system from PlayBox, implemented on standard workstation hardware on-premises. As well as intuitive facilities for creating and automatically fulfilling playlists, the new installation covers content ingest and graphics.
The modular PlayBox software allows users to build exactly the functionality they need. At WooHoo, that includes CaptureBox for ingesting and TitleBox to create graphics templates for automatic completion at the time of broadcast. As well as building playlists from blocks of planned content to frame-accurate delivery, ListBox also includes sophisticated editing tools, allowing conformance editing without leaving the PlayBox environment.
Our channel is designed for a plural and vibrant audience, in a world that does not stand still, said Thiago Taboada, engineering and IT manager at WooHoo Channel. We have to present our channel in the same dynamic, fluid manner, so we wanted a playout platform that allowed us to broadcast with flair, but with automation rather than a heavy human workload. PlayBox showed us we could be incredibly flexible without the need for big resources.

Designed for minimal operator interaction with non-specialist staff, the intuitive user interfaces are implemented in HTML5. Interfaces are tailored for each user, and are accessible on any device.
