Once again the best of British brings broadcast to Brazil 07 Aug 2013

A group of 10 leading British media technology companies are exhibiting at the 2013 Broadcast & Cable exhibition, supported by UK Trade & Industry, sponsored by Intellect and managed by Tradefair. The exhibition, to be held 20 to 22 August at the Imigrantes Exhibition Center in S o Paulo, Brazil, is the major event for television and radio technology in Latin America, and this is the third year running that Tradefair has managed a British group at the exhibition.

The British broadcast industry has a long history in innovation, and the group of companies taking part at Broadcast & Cable 2013 clearly demonstrate this. Each brings highly specialised products developed for targeted yet practical applications in the rapidly changing world of broadcast.

Both GB Labs and Object Matrix bring new approaches to provide nearline storage of large amounts of content, with SGL Broadcast and XenData both offering archive solutions tailored to the specific needs of broadcast. Focal Point Server offers a distinctive take on the asset management platform needed to keep track of the rapidly expanding content being created and stored.

Peak Communications develops RF communications equipment and has a set of products tailored for the needs of broadcast satellite links. Novella SatComs provides satellite ground stations for broadcast and communications. Cobham, too, has satellite technology it is the communications partner for the next Volvo Ocean Race but will be demonstrating the world's smallest professional quality COFDM transmitter, ideal for worn or concealed cameras in live television, weighing just 51g.

TSL Products will be focusing on the sound side of television, with its range of logging, mixing and monitoring units. Recently, attention has focused on the perceived loudness of television sound, and Emotion Systems has a software-based compliance tool which meets world loudness standards.

Even without the World Cup and the Olympics, Brazil is a booming market and one which is attracting vendors from all around the world, said Mark Birchall of Tradefair. Britain was instrumental in the very first developments of television and radio, and it continues to lead the way today. This is a great time for British companies to forge closer links with broadcasters, and with the distribution channel, in Brazil and the wider region.

The main British group will appear at the Broadcast & Cable exhibition in the UKTI's GREAT Britain Pavilion, stand number F8. As well as the exhibition presence, Tradefair and UKTI are organising a number of other initiatives to help exhibitors, including advertising and direct marketing campaigns.
