El jurado del Premio Nacional de la Cinematograf a correspondiente a 2018 ha otorgado el galard n a Esther Garcia, toda una instituci n en la cinematograf a espa ola, directora de producci n de las pel culas de Pedro Almod var. Es la primera vez que se otorga este galard n a una mujer productora.
En su fallo, el jurado ha argumentado que Esther Garc a cuenta con una trayectoria de m s de treinta a os en mbito nacional e internacional. Ha desarrollado un modelo de producci n asociado a la independencia autoral y es muy activa en el impulso de nuevos directores. Igualmente ha destacado en coproducciones, especialmente con Latinoam rica .
Garc a es una figura esencial en la carrera de Pedro Almod var con quien alcanz el Premio Oscar de la Academia de Hollywood. Igualmente ha producido proyectos de autores como Isabel Coixet, Lucrecia Martel, Pablo Trapero, Guillermo del Toro y otros.
Este ltimo a o ha presentado la pel cula El silencio de los otros, de Almudena Carracedo y Robert Bahar, en el Festival Internacional de Berl n y El ngel, de Luis Ortega, en el Festival Internacional de Cannes.
El Premio Nacional de Cinematograf a lo concede el Instituto de la Cinematograf a y de las Artes Audiovisuales (ICAA), organismo adscrito al Ministerio de Educaci n, Cultura y Deporte y est dotado con 30.000 euros.
El juradoEl jurado ha estado presidido por Beatriz Navas, directora general del Instituto de la Cinematograf a y de las Artes Audiovisuales y Jacobo Mart n, subdirector general de Promoci n y Relaciones Internacionales del Instituto de la Cinematograf a y de las Artes Audiovisuales, ha actuado como vicepresidente.
Como vocales, han estado presentes Rafael Portela, a propuesta de la Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematogr ficas de Espa a; por la Uni n de Actores y Actrices, Susi S nchez; por Autores Literarios de Medios Audiovisuales, Pablo Berger; por la Asociaci n de Mujeres Cineastas y de Medios Audiovisuales (CIMA), Patricia Ferreira y a propuesta del Instituto de la Cinematograf a y de las Artes Audiovisuales Bel n Atienza, Pablo Llorca y Jordi Costa.
Una mirada diferente de la producci nEsther Garc a (Cedillo de la Torre-Segovia-1956) es la directora de producci n de The desire to, la productora de los hermanos Pedro y Agust n Almod var. Cuenta en su haber con m s de 90 pel culas y numerosas series de televisi n en su historial, as como varios premios Goya por trabajos como Acci n mutante, Todo sobre mi madre, La vida secreta de las palabras o Wild stories.
Esta profesional segoviana comenz su carrera en el departamento de producci n como secretaria con la pel cula Pim, pam, pum fuego! de Pedro Olea y en la serie de TVE Curro Jim nez, en una poca en la que era impensable para una mujer entrar en el cine si no era a trav s del departamento de maquillaje, vestuario o secretar a.
M s tarde empez a trabajar con numerosas productoras como ayudante de producci n y jefa de producci n, con directores como Fernando Trueba, Mariano Ozores, Emilio Mart nez L zaro o Fernando Colomo.
En las d cadas de los 70 y 80, su nombre est ligado a pel culas como Los bingueros, S infiel y no mires con qui n, El a o de las luces, La vida alegre o la serie televisiva Los pazos de Ulloa.
Desde 1986, con Matador, trabaja al lado de Pedro Almod var y desde 1987 es directora de producci n de El Deseo, donde se ha encargado de la producci n adem s de pel culas como The Devils backbone de Guillermo del Toro, Acci n mutante de lex de la Iglesia, La fiebre del loco de Andr s Wood o series como Los sin tierra.
Junto a los Almod var forma un equipo al que se siente vinculada no solo por el trabajo, sino tambi n por una experiencia de vida y afinidad.
