It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. What a profound truth! A realization that eases the grip of life on man surrendering to God in all things. Partake in this feast as we consume food for the soul, nourishing the spirit in Breaking Bread. It is Monday, 14th November 2022.

EPHESIANS 1:11; ROMANS 8:28; 2 CORINTHIANS 1:4;6 ; JOHN 16:33 Jesus experienced adversity through the harassment of His enemies who wanted to destroy Him. Christians likewise are not exempt from adversities. We are not exempted from daily trials and suffering.

God allows adversity in our lives, not because we lack faith or are disobedient but use it to increase our faith. Tribulation helps us to become people of faith and this is what God wants us to become. We must always be aware of a God-allowed adversity. This will renew the lives of believers who are not living daily in joy and happiness in the Lord.

We need to realise that our hurtful or painful experiences in life were actually episodes and situations orchestrated by God. He was all the time working in those episodes and situations according to His will for my life (Ephesians 1:11) and for my good (Romans 8:28). God allows suffering and hardship in our lives to help us reach maturity in our christian faith.

God also uses adversity to benefit others. We learn through the assistance we received from God during our times of adversity and therefore we are able to help others who have all kinds of troubles and suffering (2 Corinthians 1:4).

We must trust God in the face of adversity. When things don't make sense or when life becomes uncertain, we must look to the Lord through eyes full of faith and trust in Him. He is trustworthy. All that we must do is to trust His plan.

We must recognize and appreciate why God allows adversity in our lives today. When we go through difficult and painful situations and episodes in our lives today, be not afraid because God is in the midst of our circumstances. He will never leave nor forsake us.

PRAYER Thank You Lord that you are a lord of presence. Thank you for being present in our lives during times of adversity. Thank You for allowing adversity in our lives to strengthen our faith. Amen.

Somtyds voel ons dat ons die genade van die Here nie waardig is nie. Die lewe tref ons so hard dat ons nie eintlik nie meer kans sien om aan te gaan nie en liewer wil moed opgee en van die Here vergeet. God is egter absoluut getrou aan Sy verbondsbeloftes en wil ons red en n uitkoms gee. Ons moet net vas staan in ware en opregte geloof in Hom. Dan bring Hy vrede en nie teespoed nie.

God se mense het dit nie altyd goed en maklik gehad nie. Dit is belangrik om te weet dat swaarkry, pyn en lyding nie altyd vir gelowiges uitgesluit is nie. Paules vertel in 2 Korinthiers 1:8 vir die evangelie.Hy het by tye gedink hy sou dit nie oorleef nie. Die Bybel verklaar ook nerens dat dit altyd met n gelowige goed sal gaan nie. In Johannes 16:33 se Jesus vir Sy dissipels dat hulle dit juis moeilik gaan he omdat die duiwel met sy agente op aarde ten alle tye op hulle spoor is.

Wat die Bybel wel verklaar is dat God ten alle tyewanneer ons moeilike episodes en situasies het, by ons sal wees. Wanneer dit sleg gaan met Job is God steeds naby hom. In 2 Timoteus 3:1 lees ons dat swaarkry ons gaan tref tot met die eindtye van die wereld. Maar in Openbaring word ons verseker dat God in beheer is en gaan ingryp op n tyd wat Hy bepaal.

Ons moet aanvaar en waardeer dat God teespoed in ons lewe laat gebeur sodat ons tot volwassenheid in geloof in Hom kan groei. Wanneer ons deur pynvolle en moeilike situasies vandag in ons lewe gaan, wees gerus en plaas alle vertroue en geloof in God. Hy is midde in ons omstandighede en Hy sal ons nooit verlaat nie.

GEBED Dankie o Vader dat ons weet dat U ten alle tye teenwoordig is in ons lewe. Dankie dat ons weet dat U by ons is in tye van nood en lyding. Ons weet ons teespoed is van korte duur want U is met ons. Amen.
