Cricket Australia has selected MuxIP to help launch its FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) channel for Cricket Australia. Called The Cricket Gold channel, it will feature library footage with the potential to later add live matches in selected territories, on-demand matches, and a wide range of interviews, ancillary content, and other interactive features.
The enormous brand loyalty to Australian cricket provides motivation for a new kind of viewing experience - FAST TV - on any connected TV or device, and Cricket Gold is a powerful distribution mechanism for our world-class product, says Sheryl Ng, commercial manager, broadcast, Cricket Australia. The MuxIP team have the highest technical capabilities, and a native understanding of the cricket audience, and we are thrilled to have them at bat for Cricket Gold.
MuxIP has excelled at creating FAST channels for sports, from The Grappling Network to MTRSPT1 to the recently announced Sports First channel. MuxIP has also gained renown in the FAST industry for its innovations in being the first to deliver FAST channels into broadcast and broadcast channels into FAST, as demonstrated earlier this year. The company also announced the first live FAST channel deployments in 2022.
The FAST revolution embraces the widest span of content, but is focused on passion brands, and nothing in sports equates to the zeal for cricket, says Frank Brown, managing director, international, MuxIP. We see Cricket Gold as a magnet for the enormous appetite for Australian cricket and all formats of international cricket played in Australia, from over the years up to upcoming seasons' live matches.
Cricket is a leading sport in Australia, and the Australian men's and women's national teams both recently won the Ashes, the most prestigious global competition for cricket. The number of Australians playing cricket increased year over year by 5%, according to the latest Australian Cricket Census. Cricket Gold reflects the officially largest sports audience across the world that follow cricket, particularly in Australia/New Zealand, India, and the United Kingdom.
