JupiterReturn: Live Streaming the Largest Fashion Show in the World posted: 17/11/2015
Live production company JupiterReturn strives to create innovative and compelling content and has successfully streamed more than 1000 live events during its decade of experience, ranging from sporting events to music festivals to New York Fashion Week (NYFW). NYFW is one of four major fashion shows in the world alongside events in Paris, London and Milan and generates millions for the local economy.
In 2015, the NYFW organizers and designers continued to expand their reach beyond the physical audience of buyers, press, and invited guests, with a new mobile app and video platform custom-tailored to the specific needs of the event.
Rather than utilizing an off-the-shelf option, they enlisted the help of JupiterReturn to help create a digital workflow to efficiently live stream and deliver all digital assets for the eight-day event - covering over 75 runway shows at multiple venues across Manhattan - all while maintaining a 24x7 live YouTube feed.
An event with zero downtime requires a flawless live video experience. JupiterReturn leveraged an in-house custom content delivery platform using software-defined video solutions from Elemental. Elemental Live provided real-time video processing for both its streaming platform and YouTube channel, creating a multiscreen experience for international fans on any device, at any reasonable level of connectivity. The flexibility of Elemental software allowed JupiterReturn to condense its infrastructure into an incredibly efficient multi-functional platform.
The general quality of Elemental products has been above and beyond, says Victor Borachuk, owner, director, and executive producer of JupiterReturn. Working with the people behind the scenes at Elemental has been as instrumental to making this a success.
Borachuk and his team will count NYFW among their efforts to push the industry forward, whether they are working with 4K, HEVC, or with the cloud. JupiterReturn recently integrated AWS and Elemental Cloud to support a 24-hour live stream for charity that featured standup comedy shows across six international cities. This week at Streaming Media West, Victor Borachuk of JupiterReturn will participate in a panel discussion alongside Aslam Khader, Chief Product Officer for Elemental, Corey Smith, Senior Service Engineering Manager at Xbox Live, and David Adams, CFO at EverSport Media. The session takes place on Wednesday, November 18 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at the Hyatt Huntington Beach. Panelists will provide insights as to how they have launched live-to-VOD services without infrastructure overhauls, by applying software-defined video.
