Todd Howard se suma a la lista de invitados a Gamelab 2018the XIV Congreso Internacional de Videojuegos y Ocio Interactivo. El productor ejecutivo en Bethesda Game Studios y responsable, entre otros, de la saga The Elder Scrolls and Fallout 3 y 4, visitar nuestro pa s para recibir el Premio Leyenda 2018.
Este galard n se estableci para rendir tributo a toda una carrera de innovaci n de los profesionales de mayor prestigio, que hacen avanzar el videojuego tanto a nivel art stico como econ mico e industrial. Howard se une a una lista de prestigiosos premiados como Hironobu Sakaguchi, creador de la saga Final Fantasy; Mark Cerny, el arquitecto principal de PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita; Y Suzuki, creador de la saga Shenmue para Dreamcast; Toru Iwatani, creador del popular Pac-Man; James Armstrong, vicepresidente y director general de Sony Computer Entertainment Iberia y David Braben, creador de la saga Elite.
Nacido en Pensilvania en 1971, Todd Howard se uni a Bethesda en 1994 y ha creado algunos de los t tulos m s exitosos de la industria, siendo pionero en el juego de mundo abierto. Ha sido premiado con algunos de los reconocimientos m s importantes del sector del ocio electr nico, incluido el Hall of Fame de la Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, el Lara of Honor en Alemania, y el premio Legend concedido por el New York Videogames Critics Circle. A estos se le sumar en unas semanas el Premio Leyenda Gamelab 2018.
La revista GamePro le nombr una de las 20 personas m s influyentes de los videojuegos de los ltimos 20 a os y la revista IGN lo incluy en un listado con los mejores creadores de videojuegos de todos los tiempos. Fue premiado como Mejor Director de Juego por la Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Interactivas en 2012 y 2016 y ha obtenido cuatro galardones consecutivos al Juego del A o con The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4.
Howard tambi n ha sido uno de los pioneros en crear mundos abiertos en 3D, creando The Terminator: Future Shock, el primer shooter' en 3D con mouselook' en 1995, e impulsando la creaci n mundial y las consecutivas adaptaciones para jugadores en The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Esto supuso una revoluci n en el modo de jugar. Algo que se logr gracias a la originalidad de la propuesta, pero sobretodo, por la potencia del motor gr fico y lo intuitivo del juego. The Elder Scrolls III:Morrowind lleva vendidas m s de cuatro millones de copias y sigue siendo, para muchos usuarios, uno de los mejores juegos de rol de la historia.
En 2015 se puso a la venta Fallout 4 y una vez m s se convirti en un xito comercial y de cr tica. Fue nombrado en varias listas de Juego del A o, incluidos los Premios DICE 2016 y los BAFTA. Fue el Best of Show de E3 en 2015 y bati r cords de ventas en todo el mundo. Howard dirigi Fallout Shelter, el primer juego m vil del estudio, que r pidamente se convirti en la aplicaci n n mero 1 tanto para Apple como para Google, y tambi n gan el premio al Juego de m vil del a o.
