La 83 sesi n de la Junta Directiva del DVB ha nombrado al representante de la Uni n Europea de Radiodifusi n (UER), Peter MacAvock, como nuevo presidente del consorcio. MacAvock tomar el relevo de Phil Laven, quien ha sido presidente desde el 2008.
Peter MacAvock fue director ejecutivo del DVB durante 14 a os antes de ocupar su posici n actual al frente de los servicios y plataformas de distribuci n en EBU Technology & Innovation.
MacAvock asume su nuevo rol en un momento decisivo para el DVB ante el reto del desarrollo de la Ultra Alta Definici n y cuestiones adyacentes como el HDR, el HFR o la nueva generaci n de audio inmersivo. Otras cuestiones a las que tendr que hacer frente es la irrupci n de la realidad virtual o los futuros sistemas de transmisi n. Con la creciente importancia del OTT, la televisi n h brid y otros m todos de entrega, el entorno est cambiando para el DVB, por lo que el consorcio es muy consciente de la necesidad de adaptarse a los nuevos retos de la industria de la televisi n se enfrenta actualmente.
DVB sigue siendo el punto focal para el desarrollo t cnico de los sistemas centrales que utilizan millones de personas en todo el mundo para disfrutar de la televisi n. El DVB trabaja por la estandarizaci n de un conjunto de tecnolog as que satisface las demandas de una industria en constante cambio, integrando a todas las partes interesadas y tomadores de decisiones en la industria.

Phil Laven, ex director t cnico de la Uni n Europea de Radiodifusi n, ha estado al frente del DVB durante los ltimos a os, periodo en el que, entre otros logros, supervis la introducci n de DVB-T2, que ha sido clave para llevar servicios de alta definici n a millones de personas en los cinco continentes.
